Over the past months we have been tracking the features our users like the most and improving on them. Two popular features are Slack integration and Live Preview. Here is how we have made them even better:
Back in 2015 CI16 we added Slack integration to our list of tools. It has been a huge success among our users to be able to send and receive code snippets directly in Eclipse without needing to access Slack to view the code. Well now we focused on making this even easier for you. Slack for Eclipse is now using the OAuth flow and you are no longer required to get a token from Slack before using the feature. Just give Slack for Eclipse permission to access your Slack account and voilà!
Live Preview has been amazing so far. The fact that you can instantly view web code changes across multiple browsers and mobile emulators makes a huge difference. Edit CSS and see colors, fonts and margins update in real time. Instantly viewing changes to HTML or static blocks in JSP can be such an efficiency booster. But even though it has been amazing, some deployments were taking too long to complete when Live Preview was enabled (oops, our bad!). Well this has now been fixed. As a bonus and as an attempt to make it up to you…Live Preview also supports live editing of files over HTTPS.
Last but not least we have included yet another feature to help you with the dreaded debugging time…Remote Node Debugging. If you have an externally deployed Node application that you would like to debug, use the new Node.js/V8 connector under the Remote Javascript debug configuration to debug against this instance.
