Installing the Matisse Component in MyEclipse

Matisse is the code name for the well-known WYSIWYG Swing user-interface designer of NetBeans. This designer includes intuitive and advanced layout and sizing controls. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:

  • Install the Matisse4MyEclipse component
  • Access Matisse4MyEclipse

Note: Matisse4MyEclipse features are deprecated beginning with MyEclipse 10.0. For Swing functions, it is recommended you use SWT/Swing Designer, which is compatible with your existing work files.


1. Install the Matisse Visual Swing Designer Component

The MyEclipse Visual Swing Designer (Matisse) is not included in your MyEclipse installation by default. you can add it to your selected components using the Choose Optional Components window.

  1. Select Help>Choose Components.
  2. Expand Enterprise in the Not Selected area, and select the MyEclipse Visual Swing Designer component.

  3. Click move_right_icon to add the components to the Selected area, and click Apply Changes.

  4. Restart MyEclipse for the change to take effect.


2. Access MyEclipse Visual Swing Designer

Open the MyEclipse Swing/Matisse perspective to begin using Matisse4MyEclipse.

  1. Click open_perspective_icon on the toolbar, and select Other.

  2. Select MyEclipse Swing/Matisse, and click OK.
  3. Right-click the Java project to which you’d like to add a Matisse form, and select New>Matisse Form. The New Matisse Form wizard opens and guides you through creating the new form.

Note: If you do not have the MyEclipse Swing/Matisse perspective open, you can still create a new Matisse form by selecting New>Other, and searching for Matisse Form.
