I downloaded v 1.1.1 last week and my anti virus software kicked back a message stating that, “A virus or unwanted program ‘TR/Spy 142880’ was found in the file …\mobione.exe.” I uninstalled the software and continued with the old version with no issues. Just downloaded the update again and I get the same message. How can I download a clean version of the file? Or is there something wrong with my Avira anti virus software?

    Thanks,
    Derrell

Avira updated the Antivir virus definitions last week and now it FALSELY reports mobione and the mobione installer as viruses. (stupid piece of crap!)

We discussed this issue with Avira and they confirmed this as a FALSE NEGATIVE report and will be updating their virus definitions soon. Until then you have a couple of options:

    1) white-list mobione.exe and the pulse-one-32.exe
    – you tell antivir to “Always ignore” these exes

    2) download the latest MobiOne 1.1.1 installer which has an adjustment that causes AntiVir to accept the mobione.exe but AntiVir still hates the installer. So you will still be required to white-list the pulse-one-32.exe until new virus defs are avail

We found that a recent update among antivirus systems caused some of them to falsely report that MobiOne is a virus. We made an minor update in MobiOne 1.1.2 (released 20110330) that improves A/V compatibility. We tested on over 20 different A/V scanners successfully.

How do malware and viruses get their name? I do a lot of work with computers for family and friends, including malware and virus removal. I’ve been doing it forever now, and I have always wondered how malware gets its name.
