I tried to install 8.0 today and received this error the first time in the log:

    Jon,

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. I would recommend you to follow below steps for a clean install –
    1. Run the uninstaller.
    2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
    4. Next install MyEclipse 8.0 from the download site here – http://www.myeclipseide.com/Downloads-req-viewdownload-cid-4.html
Make sure you verify the file size and md5sum of the download file.

Then I tried to uninstall Pulse and received the exact same message in the log. I don’t know if it matters but neither of them shows up in Add/Remove Programs, I tried running the uninstaller from the start menu.

Is there another way I can go about uninstalling this?

I also tried installing Eclipse 3.5 and installing MyEclipse 8.0 thru the update site (although the version says it is 7.9.100). I received this error:

Any suggestions for what I can do? I would like to give 8.0 a shot, my 7.5 is a serious memory hog and I’d prefer to go with a newer version otherwise a re-install of 7.5 might fix my issues.

    kermtfrg,

I would recommend you to install MyEclipse 8.0 using pulse explorer. Steps to install using Pulse Explorer. Please make sure you clean other versions of ME before installing ME 8.0.
    1) Download pulse explorer from http://www.poweredbypulse.com and install.
    2) Run pulse-explorer.exe file from Start Menu–>Programs–>Pulse–>Pulse Explorer or open pulse explorer manually from ~Genuitec > Pulse Explorer > pulse-explorer.exe
    3) Login anonymously.
    4) From the dropdown select “Galileo”
    5) Add MyEclipse 8.0 to MyProfiles.
    6) Under my profiles right click on MyEclipse 8.0 and select “Install and run”/”run” from the context menu.
