I think there’s a problem with the latest release 8.0, that was release yesterday. I’m getting the following error message when I tried to install the complete MyEclipse package from either the archive zip file or URL (http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/galileo/enterprise-stable/):

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.

    ngo,

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Quick question – did you add the archived update site of ME 8.0 GA on top of base classic Eclipse 3.5.1 or 3.5.0? I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse. Please follow the below instructions –
    1. Open pulse. In case you don’t have pulse, please download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Login to pulse. If you don’t have a pulse login, you can also login anonymously.
    3. This will redirect you to the pulse-explorer page. Now choose the base eclipse from top left hand corner dropdown as “Eclipse – Galilieo”
    4. Expand “My Profiles”. This should list you “MyEclipse 8.0”
    5. Right click on “MyEclipse 8.0” and from the context menu click on [Re-install and run]
Pulse will automatically fix any dependency issues. Let me know how this works for you.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

I started with a clean installation of Eclipse 3.5.1 Classic SDK and then tried to install MyEclipse 8.0 GA.

As for Pulse, I don’t want to install it unless it’s absolutely necessary. I want to keep my machine as clean as I can and only install what’s necessary. Do you have any other advise?

    ngo,

I cannot reproduce this at my end. I have added ME 8.0 GA to Eclipse 3.5.1 Classic successfully. Please see the attached screenshot.
Do you have any prior install of ME on the same system? What is your OS and its version? Have you added any 3rd party plugins to your Eclipse 3.5.1 install before adding MyEclipse 8.0 as an update site?

Joy, I have the same issue. Where are you getting your version of Eclipse 3.5.1 Classic? From Pulse or from the Eclipse download site? I, also, do not want to get Pulse involved in the process since this will be distributed to a large number of users? I also sent an email to the support@genuitec.com email site with more detail.

    bromley,

I have downloaded Eclipse 3.5.1 Classic from the eclipse download site – http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.5.1-200909170800/eclipse-SDK-3.5.1-win32.zip
Can you please give a retry? Please follow the below instructions –
To Install Using Eclipse Update Site: be sure Eclipse 3.5.1 “Classic” is installed. Start Eclipse > Select Help > Software Updates > Available Software Tab > Add Site > Enter this URL http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/galileo/enterprise-stable/
From there you just “Next” your way through the wizard and MyEclipse will be installed for you.
Let me know how this works for you.

    Joy,
That worked. What’s the difference between the online site and the archive jar that I downloaded?

    bromley,

Good to hear you are all set. Archived jar is the zipped directory version of update site.
