I am unable to do an Add Library function in the Build Path / Libraries configuration dialog. MyEclipse 10.6.

I first had this problem on an existing project, so I closed that project, and created a new “Web Project”, and repeated the steps to create the log that’s appended below.

Here are the steps:
– close myeclipse
– delete myeclipse log file
– start myeclipse (with -clean)
– – at this point I have 1 project showing & open; other projects exist, but are closed & hidden.
– rt-click project, select Build Path / Configure Build Path.
– click “Add Library”
– select “MyEclipse Libraries” in list
– click “Next” button
– – display does not change
– – log file is created and ends with AssertionFailedException.

If I click “Next” again, it goes to the next step in the dialog box, but the list of libraries is empty.

I think this problem has existed in my environment for some weeks or months. I recall going through the same steps a while back, and seeing a similar result. At the time, I really just needed to add some external jars, and was “looking around” to see what libraries would be listed, so I didn’t pursue the error at that time.

Something that could be relevant is that I have, in the past, customized some of the MyEclipse libraries by deleting certain jars within them, to resolve conflicts between jars with the same packages at different release levels. I did the deletion using MyEclipse / Preferences / MyEclipse / Project Capabilities / <Spring, Hibernate, etc> / then choosing the appropriate Library module, selecting a jar file in the list, and clicking Remove.

I hope there’s some way to fix this short of reinstalling.

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

Can you please install MyEclipse 10.7.1(latest version) as a quick fix ? You can download MyEclipse 10.7.1 from this link and install it to a different location alongside your previous install.

hi … prior to your post, I tried using the Configuration Center to upgrade from 10.6 to 10.7, as it had that option listed. Unfortunately, after it did the upgrade (which appeared to complete normally), when it went to restart MyEclipse, ME would fail during startup. (Unfortunately, I did not record the error!)

At that point, I decided to uninstall ME, and did as you suggested, downloaded the full 10.7.1, and installed that.

So far, everything seems fine; the “Add Library” function is working as expected. Clearly the old environment was corrupted. It may date back to last August, when my motherboard died and I built a new system; I installed ME 10.6 on the new system, and brought over a backup of the workspace — I may have used the backup .metadata files, too, possibly causing the errors.

I didn’t know you could have two versions of ME installed “side-by-side” … that’s good to know for the future.
