I had recently un-installed the Flex plug-in, but now, MyEclipse can’t do a software update.
When I try to do an update, I get the cryptic “Update Site Problems” message (which I have to type below manually since it doesn’t support Control-C!):
file:/Applications/Adobe Flex Builder 3 Plug-in/com.adobe.flexbuilder.update.site: No repository found at file: /Applications/Adobe Flex Builder 3 Plug-in/com.adobe.flexbuilder.update.site
That’s all it says! No options. If I click “Yes” To proceed, I just get another error that says: “This profile can not be resolved because required software could not be located.

”Why doesn’t this dialog include some button that says “Fix this?” or “Remove this repository from MyEclipse?”
Instead, MyEclipse just gives me a message and quits.
That’s helpful software??? (Hey, this is version 7.1, right?)
——-
In any case, how do I (manually, of course), get rid of this message and have MyEclipse update its software?
The disk path that’s complained about above has been removed from the Mac.
I need to be able to do updates again.
Please respond as soon as possible.
Thanks.

support-joyMemberM,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. If you have pulse, we can do a quick fix. Open pulse explorer. Click on MyProfiles. Select your MyEclipse version. It will load Base Profile, Personal Profile and Shared Profile. You can expand Personal Profile. It will list you all the third party plugins you have installed. Right click on Flex and click on [Remove]. Next right click on your MyEclipse profile and click on [Re-install and Run]. Let me know if this works.
No, this doesn’t work.
If I click HELP…SOFTWARE UPDATES…MANAGE IN PULSE EXPLORER, I see two Eclipse 7.1 entries on the left side.
However, neither one shows Flex.
Hence, the MyEclipse configuration appears to be (once again) hosed. 🙁
I must say I absolutely find NO VALUE in Pulse. It causes more problems that it solves for me.
OK, so now what file do I manually need to edit to fix this problem that MyEclipse doesn’t seem to know about?
Thanks again.

support-joyMemberM,
When you click on HELP > SOFTWARE UPDATES > MANAGE IN PULSE EXPLORER, it opens the pulse explorer, and by default it will show your current ME profile as selected. If you say that it doesn’t show Flex. It means flex plugin was successfully removed. Now, right click on the same MyEclipse 7.1 profile. It will list you context menu. Click on [Install and Run]/[Re-install and Run]. It should automatically fix any missing dependencies.
If you would like to install a latest version of FB plugin, then I would recommend you to look for the base eclipse support. Please note that MyEclipse 7.1.1 is based on Eclipse 3.4.1.
Joy,
One of us is confused.
The problem is I can’t do a regular software update since MyECLIPSE still thinks Flex is installed somewhere.
I no longer have a Flex perspective, Flex does NOT show up in Pulse (a big mistake plug-in all by itself), etc.
Yet, when I try to do a regular software update of MyEclipse I get the errors I reported in the first thread of this message. Did you read those errors?
It’s sad, but a lot of people seem to spend almost as much time debugging MyEclipse configuration problems as using MyEclipse.
***If I do the re-install and Run, won’t I then have to re-install all my plug-ins (like PMD)?***
I want to make sure I’m not creating still more work for myself.
Look forward to your reply.

support-joyMemberM,
Yes, I have read the above error messages. Looks like there were flex references which were left out even after your un-install of flex plugin. If you do a re-install and Run using pulse, it will re-install MyEclipse with the base and personal software listed in the pulse explorer. Usually all your third party plugins and features get added under Personal software. It is better you review the list and remove any plugins which you no longer need. A re-install using pulse will also resolve dependency conflicts. On 22 May, we had issues in our download servers, which has since been resolved.
I tried your right click suggestion to re-install, but got a Java Heap Space error!
MyEclipse is not good about just “fixing” problems. It just (stupidly) reports the errors (doesn’t even give any suggestions about what I could do) and then quits. This is a sign of badly designed software.
I have a Mac with 4 GB.
I need all my plug-ins.
This is extremely frustrating.

support-joyMemberM,
I am not on Mac. I will get a dev team member to help you with this issue. Sorry for the inconvinience.
I think there are bigger problems than Mac vs. PC here Joy,
There were so many MyEclipse configuration files that still had flex3 in them after the pluse ‘remove’ — it’s hard to believe.
I’ve now totally screwed up my MyEclipse trying to fix the configuration files that MyEclipse/Pulse couldn’t correctly update so I’m downloading a new version of 7.1.1 for another install (and several more wasted – should be totally unnecessary — hours of seemingly endless configuration nightmares).
🙁
