Cannot open MyEclipse 9 fter uninstalling MyEclipse 8.6

    Hi,
    I am a licensed user of MyEclipse for Spring – I had a previous installation of 8.6. Then I recently installed MyEclipse 9.1 as well. Today after updating 9.1 and adding plugins I uninstalled MyEclipse 8.6 through the uninstaller provided ; now when I try to launch MyEclipse 9 I get the following error
    “The Myeclipseforspring executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library.”.

    My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.

    Please advise as to what is the problem and how to resolve it.

    mitab,

    Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. You could be missing myeclipseforspring.ini file in your MyEclipse for Spring installation dir. I would recommend you re-install ME4S profile.

    Joy,

    When you say “re-install ME4S profile” do you mean I have to uninstall ME4S completely ?. Hope not as I spent quite some time installing plugins and optional software. If a complete install is the only way out what about the license file ?.
    I did not uninstall ME$S 8.6 when I installed version 9 as I was advised by a support member(from the staff I believe) that we could keep both versions.

    If your reply does not mean a uninstall and a complete reinstall – could you give me the procedure of what exactly I need to do.

    Mita,

    Sorry that I was not clear earlier. You can re-install using pulse, it is much faster since you already have the required software available. Pulse will only add the missing software and fix dependency issues. Please follow below steps –
    1. Open Pulse (Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer or download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com)
    2. Login to Pulse. You could also login anonymously
    3. Select “Eclipse – Helios” realm from top left hand corner dropdown
    4. Select “MyEclipse for Spring 9” from “My Profiles” and click on [re-install and run]
    5. In case “MyEclipse for Spring” is not listed under ” My Profiles”, expand and click on – Ready to use Profiles > Popular and click [run] icon next to MyEclipse for Spring 9.1. If you do this step, please go to Software tab and add the extra plugins
    6. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.

    Let me know how this works for you.

    Hi,
    I dont have Pulse and could not install – the pulse installer failed. So it looks like I will have to uninstall ME4S and download and reinstall. Do I need to take any special precautions. Should I save my license file elsewhere or would it survive the uninstall ?

    Mita,

    Please save your license information such as subscription ID and code and un-install and install ME4S 9.1, let me know how this works for you.
