    Hello,

could you please explain how to use this new 5.1 feature works?

    * provides application reload effect by touching deployment descriptor or Weblogic REDEPLOY file

What button or menu option or whatever do you have to do to use this? Clicking on ‘redeploy’ still seems to update lots of files. Touching the application.xml myself with an editor does still seem to work better.

    Thanks,

    Edwin

    Edwin,
The “touch” is done as part of the Redeploy button. If you already had an effective way of doing this yourself, you can keep using it in conjunction with an exploded deployment for a very fast reload cycle (exploded deployment == immediate deployments of changes, then simply change and save your REDEPLOY file for a fast reload).

We added the automatic touching and avoiding locked files to help folks that were constantly using the Redeploy button and expected it to behave in a certain way.

    Edwin,

There’s probably a little misunderstanding here. It’s not that a lot of files are updated when you hit redeploy, it’s that they are simply all checked to see if they have been modified. Then, only the modified ones are actually redeployed.
