Pete HelgrenParticipantI perused the forums for an answer but I can’t seem to find this exact issue. In ME2014 and earlier I could create a Deployment using “Custom Location (suffixed) or “Custom location”. This pointed to a folder where I could put the war file which I later used to FTP to a server for deployment. So my usual routine was to have two deployments defined: 1 that would deploy to my local development server and a second one that simply warred up the file and parked it in a folder. Later I would deploy the war manually to either a Glassfish or Tomcat server. Putting it in a separate folder was convenient. So my question is: Where do I find the equivalent to this? The server deployments now seem to be designed around a “real” server rather than just warring up the file and dropping it in a folder.
Maybe I missed some new option to just war the file? Right now I can’t see how to “deploy” a war to just a folder location.
Running: Version: 2015 Stable 1.0
Build id: 13.0.0-20150115Pete
support-swapnaModeratorPete,
You can deploy to a custom location using the Externally Launched Server connector in MyEclipse 2015.Go to New > Other > Server > Basic > Externally Launched Server. You can select the location of your choice as Deploy Location.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it works for you.
Pete HelgrenParticipantYeah, that is the ticket. I am not thrilled with the new format…more steps = more work! But that got me through the issue.
Thanks!
mongonvParticipantI have to agree, the new deployment method seems to have ZERO documentation on how to just deploy a war and the process is FAR more complex then it was in 10.x.
I have spent more time trying to find how to do the darn WAR than I did the migration to 2015 (which was not an easy task in itself.)
ME really needs to work on their documentation on basic tasks and what options are used for in the screens, there is nothing useful that can be found thru the help system. Searching the help returned nothing that was useful in deploying to a war.
support-swapnaModeratormongonv,
Here are the tutorials which provide detailed information about the new deployment process and the application server connectors in MyEclipse 2015 :
