Ashutosh JindalMemberHello,
MyEclipse has many things that i do not need, and am not likely to use for sometime to come. For example: i do not need the following:
Hibernate
Struts
JSP
Spring
TapestryIs there a way i could remove these from the myeclipse installation ?
Would deleting the folders corresponding to each of the above from ‘features’ and ‘plugins’ directory suffice ?
Do i need to have a manual install of MyEclipse for this customization ?
Can these changes be made in the current myeclipse installation I have ?The purpose behind removing all this is that it would make Myeclipse much lighter.
All i need is Tomcat 5.0 Support and JSP …I am currently using ME 4.0m2 with Eclipse 3.1 Final.
Ashutosh JindalMemberHello,
I just wanted to point out that I DO NEED jsp support …. so the final list of things i do not need is:
Hibernate
Struts
Spring
Tapestry
UMLThanks!
Ashutosh JindalMemberHello,
I tried deleteing all those folders from the current install of MyEclipse which had the words hibernate, struts, spring, tapestry or uml in it. Myeclipse started out fine after that and the Windows -> Preferences also dint show anything related to the above. Although in Help->Software Updates -> Manage Configuration I could see all the features i didnt want as disabled (actually with a red cross).
I deleted the following folders:
from <b>features</b>
com.genuitec.myeclipse.jsf_3.9.210
com.genuitec.myeclipse.struts_3.9.211

jimisolaMemberWould be nice if one could use the Product Configuration in Eclipse to activate/deactivate MyEclipse plugins.

Good feedback guys and we hear you! In release 4.0M3, we’ve tied into the Eclipse Capabilities framework and you’ll be able to hide/disable all the features you don’t use. This will clean up the UI by removing everything you don’t care about. For example, if you only use Tomcat, you can turn off all the other application servers. Don’t need Hibernate? Turn it off. It basically does exactly what you want. So *please* don’t go around deleting plugins from the install. You’re almost guaranteed to create a completely unstable configuration. Wait for M3, then adjust what you want hidden through the UI at Window > Preferences > General > Capabilities > MyEclipse > Advanced…
Ashutosh JindalMemberThanks Scott. I shall wait until 4.0M3 comes out.
What is the tentative date for this? I read in one of the posts that it was supposed to come out by the first week of august. Any feedback from you on this would be great …
Riyad KallaMemberNext week, we are burning the weekend oil.
