When going through the myeclipse installer, I hit an unexpected error and the installation halts. I have 7.5GB of free HDD space so I don’t think it’s a disk space issue. Any other ideas? I already uploaded a support package, not sure who responds to those though.

    jbassil,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

    1. Can you please verify the file size and md5 sum matches that mentioned in the download site to make sure the download is complete? If the size does not match, please try downloading the installer once again and retry ?

    2. Are you behind a firewall or proxy ?

    3. What exact error did you see when the installer halts ? Please paste the error message here for us

    4. When did you upload the support bundle? We are the ones who respond to them and I have not yet seen one related to this issue.

    5. Alternatively you can use Pulse or Archived Update Site to install MyEclipse.

Here are the FAQs on how to install using Pulse/ Archived Update Site :

    1. The download site shows the installer is 717MB, the on-disk size of the installer once downloaded shows 745.5 MB. Where’s the MD5 checksum value? All I can find is this URL for downloads (http://myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Recommend_Us&req=Download&version=ME)

    2. No to both, direct connection to the web.

    3. Generic error in the GUI, but the log has this stacktrace, see oneinstall.log attached.

    4. I submitted on Feb8 and Feb9 and just did it again at 2:10 pm EST Feb 11..

    Thank you!

    jbassil,

On the Downloads page itself the size of the installer and MD5 are listed. For convenience I am pasting them here for you :

    Full Installer: ~ 717mb
    MD5: f7712a2bd60fa6b48f7fe8a056473310

Can you please verify the MD5 sum and download the installer once again or try the alternate methods of installation?

We received your email today, lets follow it up here on the forums.

Let us know how it works for you.

OK, I did an MD5 checksum on the .dmg file and it was fine. I then downloaded pulse, installed it – selected Indigo and waited. The installation was succesful but when I went to launch MyEclipse 10 it said it was not supported by my Architecture !

Here’s my system info running 10.5.8 OSX:
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

Any way to debug why this isn’t working instead of requiring me to download a version from the Archive site (assuming that works) ?

    jbassil,

I’m sorry that you are having this trouble. Unfortunately, I don’t have a 10.5.8 system to try this on. However, we have seen some installation problems with 10.5.8, in the past (though not this particular problem) and that was related to some issues with 64 bit Java applications. If you have installed the 64 bit Cocoa variant of MyEclipse, could you try one of the 32 bit variants (they are selectable during the install, as you are probably aware)?

If there are still problems, then installing a classic eclipse distribution, checking that works, and then installing MyEclipse from the archived update site should get you moving.

Please let us know how you get on.
