mangelo123ParticipantI am using MyEclipse Bling 10.7.1. I’m trying to edit an XHTML file and the editor is beyond slow! I type in my tag and have to wait a good 5 seconds to wait for each one to render in the editor. I know that this problem has been around since the dawn of time. Surely it has been solved by now!!
Here are my installation details:

support-swapnaModeratormangelo123,
Sorry that you are seeing this issue.
Can you please answer some more questions for us ?
1. Are you working with the Visual Designer?
2. What sort of project is it ?
3. Could you replicate the issue with a simple XTHML file ?
4. Can you please check if the below steps help fixing the issue?
Go to Project Properties > MyEclipse > JavaScript > Include Path and the Source tab. Then select the Excluded node and click Edit. In the resulting dialog, click Add in the Exclusion patterns section and type in “WebRoot/**” (you will need to change this if your WebRoot folder is differently named). This will prevent the JavaScript indexer from running for all resources under your project’s WebRoot folder. Based on how your project is structured, you may want to exclude different folders and can use wildcards as required.
5. We are looking into this issue. If you are not using the Visual Designers then for now please switch to source editor only, by Right click on file > Open With.
Let us know how it works for you.
mangelo123Participant1. Are you working with the Visual Designer? – Not using the visual designer
2. What sort of project is it ? Web, Spring, JSF
The suggestion to add WebRoot/** had no effect.
support-tonyKeymastermangelo123,
We don’t have much to go on, here, to try to replicate the issue, with a view to fixing it. Editing XHTML is normally not slow, so it’s likely that you are using some settings, plug-ins or libraries that are affecting this. Providing as much information as possible would be of help. If it’s possible to put together a minimal project that exhibits the problem, attaching that would certainly be useful. You didn’t say whether you see the issue with a new simple XHTML file.
It’s still not clear which editor you are using for the file causing the problem. Your opening post mentioned that is takes a while to “render” tags that you type in. However, you later said that you don’t use the visual designer. If you don’t use the visual aspects of the visual designer, you may be better off using a simple text editor for the file causing the problem.
We have sometimes seen performance issues with some JavaScript libraries and adjusting how JavasScript code analysis is done has helped, at the expense of reduced functionality. These preferences can be reached in the Preferences dialog under MyEclipse->Files and Editors->JavaScript.
I hope the above helps but having a project that exhibits the behavior would be most useful to us in tracking down the problem.
