No word yet, I keep letting management know that it’s a biggie, along with iBatis and Maven2. They have to figure out a) how much it will cost, b) if it’s worth it and c) timeline.
The best thing is to keep asking for it and I’ll keep letting them know it’s being requested. If it were up to us and not going out of business wasn’t an issue, we’d probably implement everything you guys asked for in the first post, but once you introduce the money factor you’d be surprised how many “sure things” are no longer “sure things”, so a lot of thought needs to go into every decision.
Thanks for the response. I can certainly understand the business and financial issues associated with it. It is a little disheartening, though, to see a feature getting so many requests and not get any sort of response for it – especially since it doesn’t seem to be too difficult of a feature to add.
We’ve been extremely pleased with MyEclipse and I really hate making knee-jerk reactions, but the lack of any guidance on this at all is disappointing and is probably going to push us to look at other solutions.

Well that’s part of it, we are hoping to get XHTML support working in MyEclipse 5.0 and then see how much closer to good facelets support that gets us. It’s not that there is no response, management is serious about this (internally) they are just planning out work to get us from point A (now) to point C (great tooling). And some of that point B work (editor enhancements, etc.) will be going into MyEclipse 5.0 that will get us closer to that goal.

We understand, you need to use the best tool for the job. We hope MyEclipse offers good value for it’s price point but some groups require very focused features for their tasks.
I will ask someone from management to weigh into this thread as I realize you guys have been very patient.
wayneModeratorHello Everyone,
Thanks for your comments and “encouragement” 🙂
We’ve been following JSF adoption and development trends for sometime now and are well aware of the convenience that Facelet development brings to JSF development and thus its growing popularity. The delay in responding to this thread has been due to the alignment of upcoming ME 5.0 features and their prioritization with our developer and support resources. We are currently revamping the Visual Web Designer with a number of new capabilities and performance and reliability enhancements, including Linux support. This new designer will serve as the platform for everything else we do around web developer features. But its development impacts our timeline and ability to commit to add-on features such as Facelets. In parallel, as part of our Facelets support effort we have been working on XHTML support. I expect to have a better understanding of our progress in these areas next week.
Please know that we are moving towards Facelets support at this time. The question we are working to answer now is, what level of support can we commit for ME 5.0. I monitor this thread and will post updates as they become available.
It is a little disheartening, though, to see a feature getting so many requests and not get any sort of response for it – especially since it doesn’t seem to be too difficult of a feature to add.
Believe me if it were easy we would have already done it. But the reality is that there is nothing easy or cheap in commercial product development. As a joke last Christmas I gave each of the management team an “Easy Button” to simplify our management hassles. Bad News! They don’t work as advertised. 🙁 http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/marketing/easybutton/commercials-thewall.html?cm_sp=creative-_-easy%20button-_-commercials-thewall

spencerureskMemberThanks for the update Wayne, I look forward to hearing more.
I guess one of the benefits of MyEclipse being so inexpensive is that it is viable to license another IDE that has features we need and alternate between them – although I’d rather just pay more for a single solution 🙂
Thanks again for the update.
PS – My “Easy Button” appears to be defective as well.

bkaplanMemberMore +’s for facelets. We bought licenses of exadel sole for this capability, but are looking forward to going back to myeclipse.
jkvaMemberSince many people here are asking for Facelets for their collegues, here a +90 from our company. We have currently used Facelets in combination with MyEclipse in some small projects, but because of the lack of Facelets support in MyEclipse (and other issues like Tomahawk integration) we are not doing large projects with Facelets. When Facelets support improves, we are certainly starting to use it in the big projects.
