    Hello,

This may just be user error on my part, but if it is I can’t find out what the correct method should be:

In an editor window it would be very useful to be able to highlight a block of text and drag/drop it somewhere else in the window similar to Word, Dreamweaver, JDeveloper, etc. without needing to cut/paste the code explicitly. Again, this may already be possible and I am missing it but if not I would think this would be a beneficial enhancement for everyone. If I am missing it, please tell me what the proper procedure is.

    Thank-you,
    -Rod

    Rod,
I don’t believe this functionality is build in ,but I can certainly file it as an enhancement for you.

    Thanks Riyad,

I would appreciate it and I believe other users would benefit as well. Would this be something to be added as an enhancement to the MyEclipse editors or to Eclipse editors in general? In other words, should I be making this request to the Eclipse board as well?

    Thanks again for your feedback,
    -Rod

    Rod,
This is actually a better enhancement for the TextEditor component in Platform… atleast I think it would be (general editor functionality that would be inherited by others)

    Hi Riyad,

That makes sense to me. I checked the Platform Text project and found that this issue is already on the table. According to the 3.3 development plan:

-> text drag and drop (bug 11624 – depends on SWT, see bug 142845 and/or bug 134127)

Apparently, this will not be coming anytime soon unless the SWT bugs are fixed.

    Thanks for your response,
    -Rod
