Alex BathParticipantWell myeclpse 4 spring 2014 is out and what version of Spring does it support?
3.1 – yes a version that went GA in December 2011 !
I’ve been looking at some of the webinars and documentation is it any good?
Most of the videos are two years old plus and the documentation is slender, much doesn’t match the product !
I posted a question on this forum over two days ago and nobody has replied.
Anyone who knows the product in the development or support team could answer it !

You should all just pack up and go home, this product looks dead. Looks like you decided to leave everything to the STS team. Unless there is a miracle I’ll not be renewing my license after it expires.
Brian FernandesModeratorAlex,
Apologies for not responding to your earlier question, we had a bit a bit of miscommunication over the weekend; I have responded myself a few minutes ago.
I cannot refute any of your statements; yes, it is silly that the version of spring that we support is still version 3.1, and we have been behind on the documentation front where the core product has changed significantly with a move to Eclipse 4, but some of the videos and documentation online predates these changes.
All I can say is that we will be focussing in a very strong way on updating all our scaffolding tech in the 2015 stream. We are working on some core changes right now that will enable us to move to newer versions very swiftly going forward with releases that are much more frequent with updates for all tech we support.
Alex BathParticipantThank you for your response, I do hope to see some improvements.
In the meantime I have projects to deliver, the version of spring-integration I need to use (4) can’t really function with 3.1 and was wondering :
Would it be problematic to install STS into Myeclipse4spring?
Do you have any tips or suggestions to help?
Any side-effects on the Maven plugins?
(STS v 3.5.1.RELEASE I was thnking)
Your assistence would be appreciated.
Regards
Alex
Brian FernandesModeratorAlex,
If you remove our Spring features via the component list (Help > Choose Components) – you may be able to install the STS features. This may be fundamentally impossible with ME4S though (as our Spring bits are core requirements of that product) – and so you may have to do this in a MyEclipse pro install instead. The ME4S features cannot be added.
If you wait a couple of weeks, we will have 2015 EA released with a more recent STS integration (post 3.5.1). We don’t have the newer version of Spring in there yet though that will be done before the GA release. We already have an integration built and I could provide a pre- release version if you are interested,
