With the release of VE, has MyEclipse determined a plan of attack yet for their future in GUI builders? (Swing/SWT as well as JSF?). Is a home-brewed approach still preferred are is it maybe a better idea to build ontop of the VE platform and create a JSF editor (maybe jointly?)

A home-brewed approach is never our first choice. We’re waiting for VE to ‘gel’ a bit before we get our hands on it. Right now it doesn’t appear to be cross-platform and that needs to be addressed. JSF is definately an area we’ll be working on next year.
