This is an old topic, but it remains an issue in MyEclipse 9.

The only solution I’ve found is to change the setting “General->Editors->Text Editors->When mouse moved into hover” to “Close hover”. The hovers will still display, and I agree this is not the best solution, but they will disappear when the mouse is moved into the hover. If you want to see the information in the hover, and possibly interact with it, press ‘F2’ to make it sticky. Press ‘Esc’ to make it disappear after pressing ‘F2’.

It would be really nice to have a configurable delay on the hovers…

    MWThomson,

I am afraid, the functionality you require is an eclipse feature. Please refer – https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=73228 and https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=153180
You can either add to the above or create a new bugzilla item on eclipse enhancement request.

    Hi,

its seems this is a windows property and not an eclipse one. You can change it by changing or creating a key in the windows registry :
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Control Panel / Mouse
create if necessary a key named MouseHoverTime (type REG_SZ)
    Set its value to 500.
(you’ll probably have to reboot windows)
