I want to install an AJDT plugin (ZIP file) available at http://www.eclipse.org/ajdt/downloads/ .

In eclipse3.1 I tried:
Help > Software_Updates > Find_and_Install…
[checked] Search for new features to install
Next>

However, none of the options work:
1. New remote site…
It doesn’t have the capability to recognize the zip link at the AJDT download site.
2. New local site…
It can find the zip file containing the AJDT pluin which I downloaded,
but this option does not recognize the zip file as an update site.
3. New Archived Site – similar bad results.
4. Import sites – similar bad results.

Please define how to install the AJDT (or any) zip plug-in available from eclipse download site. Thanks.

The AJDT plugins are not packaged as an update site. They’re designed to be installed by download the zip file and unzipping them into the ‘eclipse’ directory of your eclipst installation. Please note that this might make them hard to uninstall if you change your mind.
