Vincent JansenMemberWill java 8 support be added to MyEclipse 2014 via a update?
When this will not be done, when is a version with java 8 support planned?
support-swapnaModeratorHi,
We are waiting until the Java 8 support makes it to the public Eclipse releases, but we can take a look at making something available earlier if viable. I will check with the dev team and get back to you on the support timeline for Java 8.
Let us know if you have any questions.
ajl959MemberDid you get any information relating to whether an update for Java 8 would be likely before Eclipse has a full release with support? I ask as looking at the roadmap on the Eclipse site Luna isn’t scheduled for release until late June…. and I don’t know how soon after that you may mean.
I’d already been using Java 8 via an update they back-ported to Kepler and having just moved back to using MyEclipse, I’d hoped something similar would be available here.
I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone in welcoming an earlier patch, since it’s not possible to install the Kepler J8 update in MyEclipse, and I’ve no choice but to move back to regular Eclipse for now for Java 8 projects.
Thanks.
support-swapnaModeratorHi,
Its possible to install the Kepler Java 8 patch to a standard Kepler SR2 install and then install MyEclipse from the update site. It is then possible to install the Java 8 facet patch for WTP.
For the update site, please check this link : http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Recommend_Us&req=Download&version=ME
Can you please give it a try and let us know how it works for you?
About the timeline for Java 8 support, we will get back to you soon.
Sorry for the delay.
support-swapnaModeratorHi,
The MyEclipse 2015 GA will have support for Java 8. The release is due towards the end of May 2014.
Thank you for the patience.
Jan-Peter RuschParticipantHi,
it’s close to mid-June by now… Any updates?
Thx,
Jan

support-swapnaModeratorJan,
We’re taking a bit of a delay to do a full Luna integration as well (we had only planned a partial integration earlier). We’re currently working on the RC1 for Luna and will be releasing shortly before the final Luna release when we get our hands on the final version of Luna from Eclipse (Jun 25)
Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.

Any update?
Brian FernandesModeratorTony,
We are in our last week of dev. RC4 was only just released last week so we are working on pulling that build into our dev environments as we speak.
