    1) Could you go to Help > About and mention exactly what version of MyEclipse you are using? Please copy the build Id from there into this thread.

    2) When using the JSP editor, are you using the Visual Designer or the source only JSP editor? To use the source only editor, right click the file and choose Open with > MyEclipse JSP Editor as opposed to MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer. If you do not experience slowdowns using the source only editor, that will tell us that the problem is specific to the design view.

    3) If you keep the Progress view open, are there Jobs that you see running while you are editing your JSP?

Sorry for the issues here, we are working on improving this performance for the 9.0GA release – I do realize it is unusably slow in some cases.

I recently have been experiencing something similar. I am running MyEclipse 8.6 for JSP and java development, and until recently it has been working. Now i press a button on the key board and it freezes for a minute. It literally takes five minutes to type a five to ten letter word in my code. I have checked my Task Manager and ran Virus scanners. Nothing out of the ordinary except when i try using MyEclipse. I am running it on a Windows XP Os on a Lenovo T400 laptop. Again it has been working smoothly until today.

I used the JSP Editor this time and so far it seems fine my guess that it is the visual aspect that was slowing it down. In the past i have been only editing jsps that are only embedded java so the visual part didnt have to update with anything today i have been working on a jsp with a great deal of html and javascript so it explains the slow-down. Is there anyway to set the JSP Editor w/o visual to default editor in MyEclipse so i dont contiue experiencing this problem?

    mcelrob5,

I assume you do not want to see the Visual part of the JSP Editor in the Design view while writing the JSPs. Right?

If it is the exactly what you are looking for then, here are the steps :

    1. Go to Window > Preferences > General > Editors > File Associations.
    2. Select *.jsp from the file type. Select MyEclipse JSP Editor in the Associated Editors list and click on Default to make it default.
3.This setting is applicable only for this workspace. All the JSPs created hereafter will open with ‘MyEclipse JSP Editor’ by default.

If this is not then please kindly elaborate on what exactly you need.
