Lee HarringtonMemberI seem to be missing the MyEclipse jsp editor.
It could be related to the fact that I do my development in virtual machines and myeclipse thought more than one person was using my license.
However, I’m only running one of those virtual machines at the moment.
Has myeclipse turned itself off?
Lee
jpittbullMemberI just downloaded myEclipse 7.5 for as a trial version using Pulse. I checked the help, followed the directions for editing a html file: no editor comes up, just a blank file.
support-joyMemberjpittbull,
The issue is not clear from your information.
Can you please explain in detail about the issue?
Also mention the steps to reproduce the issue.
jpittbullMember1. Create new project: “File|New|Project…” In the wizard, expand “Web” and select “Static Web Project”
2. Enter project name; click finish.
3. In Project Explorer, highlight the just created project; create a new file “File|New|File”
4. Enter file name with extension .html
Result: A blank file shows in the editor without any html tags.I do notice that when I hover the cursor over the top right tab, the tooltip shows “Web (MyEclipse imcompatible) perspective.
Lee HarringtonMemberOk — let’s not forget my original question. I still have no jsp editor and thus no jsp debugging.
Lee
jpittbullMemberI posted my question/problem under Lee’s topic with the belief that the two issues are related.
support-joyMemberjh4747,
The issue is not clear from your information. Please try to elaborate your issue in detail. We require below details to narrow down the problem.
1. How did you install ME? – used all-in-one installer to download/using pulse explorer/installed eclipse classic 3.4.1 and added MyEclipse plugin
2. Can you copy and paste your installation details. You can get them from – MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details
3. can you copy paste the contents of your log file located at workspace dir > .metadata > .log file
4. steps to reproduce this issue.
5. Can you send the screen shots of your error. You can send a mail to support@genuitec.com. Please add ATTN: JOY in the subject and refer to this thread.
For a workaround I would suggest you to switch to a new workspace and check if you run into the same issue.
support-joyMemberjpittbull,
I posted my question/problem under Lee’s topic with the belief that the two issues are related.
Your issue is not related to Lee’s topic. If you create a HTML file using New>File option obviously you will not get HTML support to that file because using this option it creates an ordinary file only not HTML file.
To create a file with HTML support please follow below procedure.
1. Create new project: “File|New|Project…” In the wizard, expand “Web” and select “Static Web Project”
2. Enter project name; click finish.
3. In Project Explorer, highlight the just created project; create a new file “File|New|other”
4. Select “HTML” under MyEclipse>Web
5.Click Next and Enter file name without extension .html
jpittbullMemberThanks, Joy. I now have a html file with basic tags prefilled.
How do I get to the Web Designer? By following the instructions in Help, I double clicked the html file but only the standard editor came up. Its not like the screen shots in Help. I notice that when I go into Window|Open Perspective|Other the popup shows “Web (MyEclipse incompatible)”. Is that an installation problem?
support-joyMemberjpittbull,
The tutorial that you are referring to is based on ME5.5. Visual Web Designer support was available till ME 6.6. Later this editor evolved and was replaced with various other editors such as MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer, MyEclipse Visual JSF Designer, etc.
I would recommend you to add MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer with .html file association.
Please follow below given steps:1) open Preferences window(Window>Preferences)
2) go to File Associations(General>Editors>File Associations)
3) Select *.html in File Types: pane
4) Click Add button in Associated Editors: pane
5) Select MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer in Editor Selection window and click OK button.
6) Select MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer in Associated Editors pane and click Default button(optional)
7) Click OK in Preferences Window. Now you can open your html files with MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer. If your file is .htm then you need to follow the above steps to associate MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer with .htm file.
jpittbullMemberThanks for sticking with me on this Joy. But, I’m not up and running yet.
I do not see an option to choose “MyEclipse Visual JSP Designer” in the Editor Selection pane. I also notice that there isn’t any “*.jsp” in the “File types” pane of the “File Associations” screen. I’m sending you a screen shot of what I’m seeing.
Could the “Web (MyEclipse incompatible)” be an issue?
support-joyMemberjpittbull,
Thank you for sharing the screenshots. Can you copy and paste your installation details here? You can get it from MyEclipse IDE menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details. Also how did you install MyEclipse? Meaning – have you used the all-in-one installer/ eclipse and added MyEclipse as a plugin/ used archived update site?
jpittbullMemberI used Pulse to download the all-in-one MyEclipse.

support-joyMemberjpittbull,
I think you have a WTP instead of a complete MyEclipse IDE. I would recommend you to go for a clean-install. Please follow the below steps –
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
4. Next install MyEclipse from the various options listed here – http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewsdownload&sid=31I will also recommend you to go through MyEclipse educational material here – http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?module=htmlpages&func=display&pid=7
Please take a look at http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/htmleditor/ – which shows how to use the htmlEditor.
jpittbullMemberThank you very much, Joy. I have it working now. I’ll definitely look at the educational material.
I had to install MyEclipse twice today, though. I followed your instructions as above and had the same problem as with the earlier installs – no visual editor and “Web (MyEclipse incompatible)”. It seems that the install found the eclipse.exe from eclipse.org. I deleted the eclipse.org installs and reinstalled MyEclipse a second time. That did the trick.
Again, thanks much,
John -
