RobertGloverJrMemberI’m a registered user for MyEclipase 7.0 Enterprise. I just installed it (WinXP SP2). When I go into Preferences…General…Network Connections… and check “manual proxy configuration” and make the settings, I get a connection error looking for updates.
So, I close MyEclipse and then reopen it. Then when I go to the same place, i.e., Preferences…General…Network Connections… I find the that “Manual proxy configuration” is unchecked and that instead “System proxy configuration” is checked.
I don’t know why this is happening. I can configure RAD7 with no problems to use a manual proxy configuration and it works fine.
This has stopped me cold from getting the Clearcase plug-in that I need. It looks like a bug in MyEclipse 7 to me. I can’t think of any other explanation.
Loyal WaterMemberRobertGloverJr,
The bug that you are reporting is that MyEclipse is not picking up the proxy settings that are correct? Or Network Connections is switching to System proxy configuration when you restart MyEclipse?
RobertGloverJrMemberHere is the exact sequence of events whereby I can recreate this problem on WinXP SP2
1) START…All Programs…My Eclipse 7.0…My Eclipse 7.0
2) Use this workspace: C:\MyEclipse70\wsLog4jBook
3) Windows…Preferences…General…Network Connections
4) At this point without my doing anything yet, “Direct connection to the Internet” is checked.
Note that the the values I filled in previously for “HTTP proxy:” and “Port:” directly underneath “Manual proxy configurations” is visible but greyed out and unchangeble.
5) Click on “Manual Proxy configuration”. This causes the settings I made yesterday for “HTTP proxy” and “Port:” to show, pre-filled correctly and changeable, in the two text boxes.
The values are correct, in the sense that those identical values work fine for me in IBM RAD7.
6) click “APPLY”
7) Click “OK”.
8)- File…..Exit
…. MyEclipse closes.
9) Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 above
10) The same as in 4 above, “Direct connection to the internet” is checked.
11) Same as in 5 above, I click on “Manual proxy configuration”, then click APPLY and OK.
12) Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 above.
13) The “Manual proxy configuration” remains checked.
14) Help….Software Updates…..Check for Updates.
15) A dialog box appears than says, “Validating server connection….”
16) After a few minutes this appears in a dialog box: “Check for Updates… requires a network connection in order to connect to the server. Try this again after network connectivity has been restarted”
17) click OK to dismiss the dialog box
18) repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 above
19) At this point, without my having changed the setting, “System proxy configuration (if available)” is checked..End of steps to recreate this problem.
Note1: version of MyEclipse is: Version: 7.0
Build id: 7.0-20081201
Note2: I Installed MyEclipse7 using the “all in one” option.
Note3: When this problem first happened yesterday, I noticed that I also had Versions 6 and 6.xxx installed of MyEclipse. I un-installed both of them via standard Windows un-install procedure. I also completely uninstalled MyEclipse7. Then, I re-installed from scratch MyEclipse7. Then, today, I recreated the problem by the steps shown above.

apwelshMemberI too have the same issue. The real challenge will be installing the fixes once they are available, since the remote update doesn’t work.
I haven’t seen any updates in this thread. Is this still an issue?
Armand

EmptyMemberHi All:
I got my network connection stuff working and this is what I did.
It was more playing in the dark out of frustration than anything else. Anyway here is what I did.I edited the following file: /MyEclipse 7.0/configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.core.net.prefs
I reset all the relevant values to blank i.e.
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/port=8080
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/port=8080
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/host=proxyo.fnb.co.za
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/port=8080
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/host=proxyo.fnb.co.za
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/host=proxyo.fnb.co.zato:
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/port=
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/port=
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/host=
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTP/port=
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/SOCKS/host=
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/hasAuth=false
org.eclipse.core.net.prefs:proxyData/HTTPS/host=Started up myeclipse, and hey all working again.
Good luck,
Regards,
Claudio
