harrygMemberAnd it’s becoming more absurd.
MyEclipse 7.1 ist still not working behind a proxy, not even for local archived sites!
Loyal WaterMemberI’m sorry for the trouble. We will fix this shortly in the new installers later this week. In the interm if you turn off the network interface before running the installer, it should force the installer to run in offline only mode and not try and go online. If you have Pulse installed though, it *might* invoke another bug that was fixed this past weekend with Pulse 2.4.1 that forces the installer back online and then we’d have to start with a clean install if that were the case.
thorwarzMemberBTW,
if found out that the installer installs. It just the Pulse installation before the MyEclipse installation, that takes about two hours. Looks like it tries to download a couple of jars but can’t find them (because of the proxy problem!!), waites for a timout each time and fetches them from some kind of local repository.
The install log shows (watch the timestamps!)::

INFO: Removing: XXX\Temp\pulse2-install20885But after the installation, MyEclipse cannot connect to the internet like before …
harrygMemberIt’s becoming weird now!
I uninstalled everything (including profile dirs) and reinstalled MyEclipse with disabled network as you proposed. Now I never get to the Add/Remove Software dialog, neither with nor without Network.
So I can never install Plugins except via dropin, not even from a local archived update site. But suddenly I am able to open the dashboard and it gets an Internet connection.
But during “checking for updates” it already downloads hundreds of megabytes, which is totally undesirable in our company. Trying to stop this with cancel didn’t work, I had to stop each of those hundreds of download separately!
Finally the dashboard shows up, but this doesn’t help me in installing from my local archived update sites…For us, pulse is just a plague and I gave up now. Wasted a lot of time on this.
We are trying a pure Ganymede with MyEclipse archived update site now.
If this also causes troubles, MyEclipse is finally out.
Riyad KallaMemberBut suddenly I am able to open the dashboard and it gets an Internet connection.

Finally the dashboard shows up, but this doesn’t help me in installing from my local archived update sites…I’m sorry you ran into this, this is a bug in p2 (that Pulse is built on) in that you cannot install individual updates without picking up the full workbench update. What this was doing was pulling down the MyEclipse 7.1 update that we just released last week in addition to anything else you were trying to install. Had you let it complete, it just would have upgraded your workbench, or you can grab the 7.1 installers from our download page for that.
jrmeyer_aspectaMemberHello,
I just wanted to download the new installation package 7.1. But as I see it’s not a good idea because the old proxy problem is still not fixed.
So I ask myself why do you use pulse. What is wrong with the eclipse integrated updater? And when can I access a myEclipse version which has NO PROBLEMS WITH PROXY SERVERS?
Thanks for your answer.
Best regards,
J.
support-joyMemberjrmeyer_aspecta,
I understand your frustration. For a workaround, you can download the All-in-one installer from MyEclipse and take your computer offline and install. Our dev team are working on a fix in our future releases. Sorry for the inconvinience caused.
Riyad KallaMemberGuys, over the weekend we published updated MyEclipse 7.1.1 installers that use the new Pulse 2.4.1 patched release — this *should* stop the installer from going online during the install and causing those network connections that are stalling the install and making it take so long. Hopefully that helps.
minvaderMemberi still cant install subclipse
thorwarzMemberNice, that a new release has been published.
And really, it installs in nearly 20 Minutes. Pulse does not need two hours to find out that it cannot connect to the internet.
I uninstalled all previous 7.x versions and Pulse and installed using the new 7.1.1 installer. With hope in my mind I startet Eclipse 7.1.1. It started.
And the following fullfilled every (negative) expectation:
I clicked ‘Help -> Software Updates -> Add/Remove Software’. A window ‘Validating server connection …” appeared and …….. vanished. Without any hint of what happened. No error message, nothing.
Clicking ‘Check for updates’ shows a well known dialog like ‘… requires a network connection …’
No connection to the internet is possible. No online software installation is possible. No online updates are possible, Proxy settings are still not working in any combination. It is really nice from you to publish a new release, giving hope to people that someone is interested in their problems.
It is really nice, that Pulse does install in less than two hours. But …
WHEN WILL IT WORK???????????????????????
Connecting to a HTTP-Server through a proxy server is NO wizardry.
The installer ist still not usable when working behind a proxy!!!
Riyad KallaMemberFor everyone on this thread, we are working on a fix in Pulse that will be on the new Window > Preferences > Pulse > Network preference page — we have added an option to switch out using our underlying HTTP library with the native/JVM one which may work better for some folks in certain situations.
Connecting to a HTTP-Server through a proxy server is NO wizardry.
thorwarz, I really wish that was true… it absolutely is wizardy because every single proxy software and network has it’s own thresholds, behaviors and configurations that are all incompatible with each other… it’s incredible how much work it takes to “just get it right” in every situation.
David McReynoldsParticipantI’m at 7.1.1 and have this same issue. Until I know this is fixed, I’m switching back to a previous release of IntelliJ. It may cost alot, but it seems to work more often than this.
Loyal WaterMemberI’m at 7.1.1 and have this same issue.
Could you please explain the issue that you are facing?
What kind of environment are you on? Are you behind an NTLM proxy? Does authentication work and it’s just slow or does it not work at all? Did you try the alternative Communication Modes for Pulse under the Window > Prefs > Pulse > Network Settings menu that was mentioned above? If so, which ones did you try?
estephensMemberIs there still no resolution to this proxy issue? I tried installing 7.1.1 and I am still having problems updating. The connections just stall. I need a resolution to this as soon as possible. It is costing me a significant amount of time.
Thanks
support-joyMemberestephens,
You need to set your proxy here – Windows > Prefs > Pulse > Network Conn and enter the proxy info. Let me know if this helps.
