Did you setup the pulse 2.4.2 service update? Can you go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste the information here fro me.

Also, after grabbing that update, you can use the Dashboard to Uninstall and then re-install Subversive to make sure it’s installed correctly (after getting the Pulse Services update and restarting) — that might help.

Is there an official bug # on this issue so we can track it instead of checking the forum?

    Hi Nipun,

This is very frustrating, he has already stated that we are not using Subversive! Please log this as an official bug for us and address it? I feel like there is no continuity here.

There was some confusion on this thread, the fix Nipun was referring to was for Subversive users, that is independent than the original bug reported of MyEclipse erasing .svn artifacts from a SVN project that wasn’t being managed inside Eclipse (was being managed externally using TortoiseSVN).

Here’s what I did to try and reproduce this situation:

    1. Check out MyBlogJPAJSFExample from EOD into a clean workspace
    2. Disconnect from CVS (erase metadata)
    3. Check into a private SVN repo I use for testing using Subversive (now it’s happily an SVN project).
    4. Backed up the project externally by zipping it all up into a RAR
    5. Removed all SVN software from my MyEclipse install.
    6. Restarted MyEclipse with a new workspace dir
    7. Copied the project from the old workspace to the new one in the background using Windows explorer
    8. File > Import > Existing Project > Select Root Dir, and selected the project that was already hanging out in the new workspace dir
    9. After import, forced a Project > Clean rebuild cycle on the project
    10. Flipped to navigator view to confirm that .svn dirs were still there AND that /entries and /all-wcprops were still there.

NOTE: Also confirmed that Build AUtomatically and General > Workspace > Refresh automatically were all turned on incase any of those triggered the issue.

From the steps given by a few users here I believe a reproduced in a MyEclipse-only environment the scenario that was failing… more notably, pulling a SVN Web Project into MyEclipse and having the build process eat the .svn artifacts — I did not see that behavior.

At this point I am wondering if:

    1. Having the entire workspace checked in, in the fashion mentioned by a user here could be interfering with the function of the workbench.
    2. TortoiseSVN causing a problem or conflicting in some way?
    3. Some 3rd party plugin or optional piece of software installed in your workbench that is causing the problem?

Can you guys dig locally into where our setups/details may be different and we can see if we can find what’s going on.

Following are the steps to recreate this bug…these steps were added by Stuart..Its very easy to recreate this bug..Plese let us know when this could be fixed or we need to revert to an older version. And we are not using submersive

The was verified using the following:
    MyEclipse 7.1.1-20090310
    TortoiseSVN 1.6.1
    Windows XP 32bit and 64bit

    1. Create a new project in Subversion. (mysvnapp)
    2. Check out the new project from subversion. (c:\dev\mysvnapp)
    3. Open a new workspace in MyEclipse within the checked out project directory. (c:\dev\mysvnapp\myworkspace)
    4. Create a new web project using Java EE 5.0 Spec. (web)
    5. Shutdown MyEclipse.
    6. Add and check in the new workspace and web project to Subversion. Do not check in the .metadata directory.
    7. Open MyEclipse.
    8. Refresh the web project within MyEclipse
    9. At this point, the following files will be deleted after you refresh the web project:

    c:\dev\mysvnapp\myworkspace\web\.svn\all-wcprops
    c:\dev\mysvnapp\myworkspace\web\.svn\entries

The test I performed was with a fresh install of MyEclipse 7.1. No additional plugins are installed. Subversive IS NOT INSTALLED.

I have been using Eclipse based products for years and never had any issues checking the workspace into Subversion. MyEclipse 7.0 is not deleting the svn files. Something changed in 7.1 that is causing this bug.

Since the steps were provided in detail on April 29, I don’t understand why MyEclipse support would try an alternate set of steps to reproduce the problem!

3 days later, no replies. This is why I have suggested Genuitec charge a litlte more for their product so they can also afford to support their paying customers. This is the worst supported product I have in my portfolio.

It almost seems to me that Riyad doesn’t realize you’re not using the Team interface — that your version control is being done without Eclipse’s knowledge and that could be the root of the problem.

MyEclipse should not be deleting files that it doesn’t know anything about. I could understand if it were removing the svn files from all projects types. It is only happening with web projects.

Is MyEclipse still looking into this matter or are they hoping it will just go away by itself?

Guys we figured out what was causing this (the JavaScript nature/builder) and fixed it for 7.5 — first let me thank you for being so patient and secondly let me thank you for bringing this to our attention and really pushing to have it fixed. It makes it easier to push high priority things through management when users raise their voices.

    When will 7.5 be available?

I’ve downloaded and installed MyEclipse 7.5 and it’s still deleting the entries file. Can you please resolve this critical bug as soon as possible?
