I have created a JSF file using the MyEclipse for Spring 10 (right mouse click on WebRoot –> new –> JSP (Advanced Templates) and used “Default JSF template”). When I “Open With” MyEclipse Visual JSF designer, onle a source tab is shown (with the source code of the file). I don’t get Design and Preview tabs as the tutorial indicates.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Brad

    pooleb ,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue with MyEclipse.

    1) Can you share your Operating System and version details ?

    2) The Visual Designers are only available in 32 bit installs. If you are on Windows 64 bit then you will need to install MyEclipse 32 bit to retain all features. The installer also provides that information when choosing between the 64 bit and 32 bit install (the text on the screen changes as the user hovers over each option).Take a look at the release notes for information about 64 bit Windows Support :
    http://www.myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-491.html

    3) The Visual Designers are experimental in Linux systems. If you are on a Linux system then add “-Dlinux.experimental=true” to the end of your myeclipse.ini file and check. The Visual Designers may not work in all Linux environments.

    4) The Visual Designers are available in Mac , but only in 32 bit Carbon install.

Thanks for the quick response Swapna!

I was indeed running with the 64 bit version of MyEclipse for Spring (and yes, it does tell me the visual designer isn’t supported when I hover over the 64 bit button). I’ve now installed the 32 bit version and all is working as advertised.

    Thanks!
    Brad
