I just noticed in my fresh install that according to what was said above, the MyEclipse install doesn’t create the shortcut as recommended:

    c:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm c:\j2sdk1.4.2_06\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs -Xmx256m

    Instead it creates:

    C:\EclipseTest\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vmargs -Xmx512M -Dosgi.splashLocation=”C:\Program Files\MyEclipse\MyEclipseSplash.bmp”

The “-vm” is out of place from the INSTALL program.

How do I un-install the test MyEclipse I installed to try to troubleshot the Javacsript editor problem?

I only have one listing of MyEclipse in Windows and it’s pointing to the test one…

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I tried this. It does not work. After I type the “.” the editor just sits there.

I noticed that I have some old MyEclipse installs 3.8.2 and 3.8.3 in my installed programs list from Control Panel. Don’t know if this could be a problem; it shouldn’t rigtht?

    WHat’s next?

Did you try pressing CTRL+SPACE to invoke the autocomplete?

As long as you are using different Workspace OR being sure to run -clean, then no.

    WHat’s next?

You didn’t answer my workspace question, are you creating a new independent workspace each time we are testing? C:\workspace1, C:\workspace2, etc. I don’t want to use your existing workspace until we figure out what is going on.

OK, I get it. I have to hit CTRL-SPACE each time?

If I do that, then it works. Otherwise, nothing.

Yes, in the “Fresh” install, there’s a fresh workspace.

    Hope this info helps..

Try going back to your original stable install and original workspace, does CTRL+SPACE here work as well?

Yes, works in old install too.

Is CTRL-SPACE the way you have to do it with Javascript?

I was thinking it would be like the JSP editor — you just click “.” and viola!

Yes, but I have filed that it doesn’t timeout like the other editors and popup.

It should be, I have filed it. Although next time something is ‘broken’ try CTRL+SPACE and see if that does the trick.
