JSF portlet support is there in the latest version? It would be better if the sample portlet projects are provided along with the IDE.

    Hi,

Looks like the Portlet support that finally comes with ME is limited to Portlet 1.0 JSR-168. It is a good start but the reason the portlet topic is hot today is that JSR-286 has recently passed the final ballot and that it allows to build real apps using portlets.

So what are your plans for JSR-286 support ? When, in what ME release, … ?

    Bernard,
Nothing solid yet, but JSR-168 support along with WebSphere Portal support are our first steps towards more robust portlet support. If JSR-286 is what you guys will need going forward, I”m sure we will develop a strategy to address that in a future release… but it may be a few releases off as we want a chance to make sure folks are happy with 168 support first.

What is meant by “JSR-168 support”? I am asking because just being able to build a portlet is only half the battle. Providing full support (build, deploy (including hot-deploy), and debug) is what is needed. I understand that this is very difficult given the wide variety of portals out there, but having “full support” will continue pushing MyEclipse as the premier IDE for Java / JEE Development.

    randymay,

Correct, we are at the “Create” stage right now and are working on full deploy support for a few of the most popular platforms out there.
