mancocapacMemberHi,
Each time I attempt print the ER Diagram eclipse hangs and I have to quit
out of it to recover. The diagram appears to be ok, but printing causes it to
blow up.I am running on linux, myeclipse 6.5. my db is MySQL 5.0.x
I am running/using the Hibernate Caveatemptor example, which produces
a ddl file. I run the file, it creates the tables, I invoke generate ER Diagram,
add all the tables. The result looks good but as soon as I try to print BLAM!Please help, I would like to print this thing out. It looks like I can save it as
a .jpg, but that is not what I am looking for. Thanks,
mancoPS: I have included the DDL and myelipse set up below:

Loyal WaterMemberAre there any errors recorded under <workspace>/.metadata/.log file?
mancocapacMemberI exited eclipse, backed up the current log, and cleared .log, to have a fresh start.
I see that 3 backups were made yesterday right around the time of the
problem. These are quite big, is there a way for me to attach files to a post? Thanks for you help, please let me know what else I can send you

1. tail -f of .log
2. start eclipse
3. open the .mer file, looks good, able to move around within window, no
new log entries.
4. attempt print, print window comes up, hit print button
5. eclipse hangs, no window updates, nothing new going into the log
6. after a few miniutes, terminate window, via upper left button, see pop-up
indicating … not responding, hit terminate and process is killed
7. restart eclipse,–

Riyad KallaMemberIt’s hard to say what could be going on. Print invokes the platform-specific Print window, in your case, the GNOME Print window I’m guess. In the past when I’ve seen interactions between Eclipse/MyEclipse and the desktop lock things up, a GTK update or GNOME update will usually correct the issue.
Using your system update tools, can you check if there are any GTK or GNOME updates pending?
mancocapacMemberUsing your system update tools, can you check if there are any GTK or GNOME updates pending?
I am using FC8, with KDE, everything is up to date. I haven’t had any other
printing problems from within Eclipse/MyEclispe. What is the format of the
.mer file? Can you verify at your end that your able to print these files types?I also attempted to print to file, that hangs also
Thanks
Riyad KallaMemberMER is just an XML file IIRC, containing the layout data in it. I am able to Print on Ubuntu which is what we primarily use for testing right now for Linux installs.
mancocapacMemberI did a complete rebuild of my Eclipse/MyEclipse env and still go the hang
Previously, I was launching from a button. This time I launched from a command line script. After the error / hang, the next time I launched from
the script I got the following:(eclipse:30271): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `pixbuf != NULL’ failed
(eclipse:30271): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `pixbuf != NULL’ failed
(eclipse:30271): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_resize: assertion `width > 0′ failed
Does this provide anymore clues?
Thanks
mancocapacMemberI took out the splash from the startup line, the above errors go away, but I
still can’t print the ER diagram
Riyad KallaMemberUnfortunately it looks like a failure interacting between GTK and SWT at the platform level, there isn’t much we can do there but I *have* seen issues like this correct when the GTK libs are upgraded. Unfortunately in your case I don’t know if this means FC9 or not… FC8 should work but either way the failures happening at that low of a level are out of our control.
