sabujo2000MemberI´ve checked out the 3.8b2. It´s really rocks… But I use tiles, so I have a lot of definitions used as forwards and inputs (most of the times, actually). In this version I cant navigate through definitions/tiles.
❓ Is there a chance to this be implemented in the next version?
I think could be a option to point where your definitions are (cause some of them can be located in a related project, not in the project that I´m using at the moment).Let me know if I couldn´t make myself clear, please… This would be a BIG feature for me and alot of other people which uses tiles…
Thanks,

Riyad KallaMemberClayton,
No more new features will make it into 3.8 (we need to stabalize it at some point ;)), but I know that we had talked internally about allowing new nodes and such in the flow modeller based on tiles from the tailes-def.xml file in the project, I don’t think we ever thought about the possibility of allowing tiles from OTHER projects… can you explain in detail what you mean by this and how you are currently using this so we can see how best to map the functionality to our tools?

thanks to answer so quickly!
Well, first of all, would be really nice to navigate through definitions in struts-config editor/modeller.
We develop applications who has a “core”, I mean, some projects with most common and usefull stuff needed. When a client contracts us to create a new application, we use such “core”. This is not done by replicating all the files in developing/design time, which would lead us to another problem: synchronize all files when a new version of the “core” is ready. When project is being constructed, we create dependences between these projects and assemble them with Ant. So, if I´m working in PROJECT A, I can refer to a definition in some CORE 1 PROJECT, for instance. when we create a deploy (ant again) we put all together and create a WAR file.
As you can see, those definitions aren´t really available to the PROJECT A when I´m editing it, but I know that it´ll be later..
My sugestions are: reading web.xml, struts-config.xml, .project file, create a way to navigate (double click) in tiles definition. The other sugestion is to create a way to allow users to inform, mannually, resources to be used (just for the modeller locate the files that could be missing). This feature would share with the users the responsability of setting up de modeller to show your resources correctly. As you can see, I´m dont speak english very well, but I´ll do my best to make myself clear.
Is there any questions about what I have written? Thanks in advance and keep it (ME) rocking,
Clayton Fonseca
Riyad KallaMemberHmm Clayton, honestly this feature has the potential to be very big and we’ve not seen anyone request it before. Since our new features are based on user demand, if you are able to get a lot of support for this, then we will absolutely look at it. However there are so many other ‘must have’ featuers that we need to juggle and implement as well.
timmytoolMemberWhat about support for previewing a tile.
