    Hi,

I’ve been using Struts since 2001 with all best practices such as Tiles, Validator, Action and ActionMapping extentions, DynaActionForms, I18n, (now JSTL) and so on…

I’ve also tried to use and offer many old releases of MyEclipse to our customers (until the 3.8.2) but we never could really get killer productivity from them. The features the we (and several large Brazilian companies) need are:

    1. Tiles support (we’d like to click in the diagram flow over a “tiles definition” and open the tiles-page.xml in the specific “definition” and also view tiles-menu.xml in a better editor. Click on a Tiles Definition and open the “controller class” or “jsp layout” or “jsp components”.

    2. Visual – Markup – JSP (similar to HTML, but with Struts and JSTL tab-libs rendering and ApplicationResources lookup!). It would be very important to be able to use our .CSS and .JS files (that are in Tiles JSP Layouts)

When could we expect to have these features? I really think that they are the key features for justify MyEclipse in many cases and for sales sucess in Brazil…

    Thanks in advance…

    Paulo,
Because we are a company we need to address features that are most important to our biggest customers and user base first. We frequently get opportunities to pull in other requests and do I think very successfully provide broad tool coverage for most all of our users.

If your company is willing to fund these additions by way of license purchases we would absolutely look into addressing these needs for you and your company. Is purchasing more subscriptions or group licenses is not in your company’s interest at this time, then I hope you can understand that we must remain focused (right now) on the features that are being funded by other interested companies that may be completely unrelated to Struts tooling as well as the most popular requests from our user base.

    Hello there,
I´m here on behalf of Paulo Alvim, which is my boss 😀 , and I´d like to know how many licenses we´re talking about. I believe we have a possibility to sell about 40-50 licenses for our clients in a short time and many others in mid-term. But, we´ll need some features to “justify” their investment. I mean justify because, as you already know, customers always want more paying less. 😕 Here in the company myEclipse is “a must have” solution to advanced web development. So, we have a “chicken-egg puzzle”! I need some features to help me to sell myEclipse and you need some purchases to implement those features. 😀

Nevertheless, we know that some of those features are already scheduled to be present at 3.8.3 version. Which features (of Paulo Alvim´s list) are planned to be in next release?

I believe closer contact in those matters can be satisfying and profiting for we both.

    Best regards,

    Clayton Fonseca

    Clayton,
I recieved a reply from the higher ups and we would like to convey that we are working hard to get 3.8.3 out the door here in the comming week. After that we will assess features for 3.9 and beyond with your company’s wishes as a deciding factor in mind.
