patelvrMemberI am unable to start MyEclipse. It keeps poping up a window with a message “JVM terminated; Exit Code=-1” along with bunch of configuration informaion.
I tried to reinstall MyEclipse, JDK (version 1.6.x) but problem still persist. I also noticed that even Eclipse (version 3.4) is also unable to start and gives similar message.[/img]
support-joyMemberpatelvr,
Can you give me some information to investigate the error.
1) What version of MyEclipse are you using?
2) How did you install MyEclipse?
3) Did you upgrade MyEclipse from earlier version after installing MyEclipse?
4) Can you give me your system details?
5) If you tried to reinstall MyEclipse, have you cleaned Myeclipse before reinstalling?

I have installed MyEclipse 7.5 on Windows XP.
2) How did you install MyEclipse?
I used the built-in installer to install.3) Did you upgrade MyEclipse from earlier version after installing MyEclipse?
No, I did not upgrade from 7.0. I just deleted the previous installation directory.4) Can you give me your system details?
I installed on Dell Latitude D830 with 4 Gb RAM running Windows XP Professional.5) If you tried to reinstall MyEclipse, have you cleaned Myeclipse before reinstalling?
I tried to reinstall using the “Uninstall” utility provided with MyEclipse and reinstalled. But the problem still persist.Unfortunately, I could not find a way to attach the screen shot (basically, a pop-up comes up displayig all parameters when I double clicks on “myeclise.exe”).
The first line in a pop-up says “JVM terminated. Exit code = -1” followed by bunch of JVM parameters on the following lines.

support-joyMemberpatelvr,
Thank you for your information.
Before installing MyEclipse 7.5, follow the steps below:
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec,
and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
3. Then make sure the .pulse2.locator file under “~\Documents and Settings\[Login User Name]”
is erased as wellThe above steps are to makes sure that the uninstaller cleans the previous installed MyEclipse completely.

1. Uninstall the existing MyEclipse through the Uninstall utility provided with MyEclipse
2. Made sure that “Pulse”/”Genuitec” directory is deleted
2. Deleted all MyEclipse related files under “Document Setting”\User\xxxxOne thing I noticed that if I reduce “-Xmx512m” to “-Xmx256m” in myeclipse.ini, at least, I could start MyEclipse without any VM crash. Howerver, it just crashes after sometime.
Howerver, I do not experience any crash in Eclipse (plain Eclipse) by reducing the heap size in eclipse.ini file.I am not sure, why reducing the head size let me start the application.
support-joyMemberpatelvr,
We have not been able to reproduce this issue internally. We have observed that quite a few users who had reported the same problem, modified the vmargs, it worked fine for them.
For others, the “Manual Install” option which is 5th option in the link – http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewsdownload&sid=31 fixed this issue. Can you turn on the Heap Monitor (Window > Prefs > General, it’s a checkbox “Show heap status”) and see how the memory behaves… does it shoot up to the moon then die?
Since you have already tried modifying the vmargs, I would recommend you to instead install ME using the 5th option of manual install. I have already escalated this issue and our dev team members are investigating this.
patelvrMemberI am terribly upset and disappointed by this tool. Since I upgraded to MyEclipse 7.5, not only it screwed up MyEclipse but my existing installation of regular Eclipse also got corrupted. Now, I can not use my plain Eclipse as well. I am not sure how could I fix the eclipse problem.
Riyad KallaMemberpatelvr,
Can you do me a favor and download Prime95 (here: http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=4363&file=1&evp=ffc2a25c3011b055346f699a0c02444e)
and unzip it and run it overnight? What it does is compute prime numbers, using all your system’s available RAM and CPU, but it will report calculation irregularities when there is a hardware issue… I find it hugely odd that if you *shrink* the heap space, the VM stops crashing… I just want to rule out bad hardware before we continue troubleshooting.
