    MyEclipse 3.8.0 GA.

The HTML Visual Designer no longer works. I get a blank screen…

See following posts for more details.

    🙁

That’s 3.8.0 GA, Windows XP SP2, with Office 2003 installed.

Load a html page. Goto Source, Preview and Design modes. All is fine.
But switch back between Preview and Design modes….Design view is blank.

But if you transition from designer to source then preview it’s fine?

Nope. Only the very first time do I get to see the html page in the Visual Designer. After that, it’s blank. I have to unload the file and load it again to see it.

(I have ticked the “don’t show me this warning” thing box).

    PB,

Is it any html file or a specific one? If so, could you post the source here? Also, did you let the windows installer finish or do you always cancel it the first time?

I’ve tried to replicate this behavior on XP, without Office 2000 installed and don’t seem to be able to. It’s likely related to the config, the specific file, or perhaps a problem with the install of MyEclipse. Phillipus, how did you install 3.8 GA? Did you follow the instructions here:

    OK:

    Manual Install.
    Wiped the Eclipse configuration folder.
    Wiped the old MyEclipse folder.
Does it for all HTML Files

Will try a brand new install

I’ve got the full Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed…

    And using eclipse-SDK-M20040805-win32

can you make that install the 3.0 release build of Eclipse instead of a milestone build?

    Thanks.

When you first started using the Designer, were you prompted by the MS installer? If so did you allow it to continue installation or do you always cancel? Answering this will help us better understand your configuration and solve this issue.

I just tried a brand new clean install of Eclipse and MyEclipse. Same problem 🙁

Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2
MyEclipse 3.8.0 GA Manual Install as per instructions.
    Office 2003 installed

Problem occurs for all HTML files.

    PB,

Did the beta 2 visual designer work with SP2 installed, or did you install SP2 just prior to the new ME build? Any entries in the eclipse log file?

    Good question….

Let me roll back and test….

Just tested with beta 2 visual designer – same problem. And this used to work OK.

My suspicion is that Windows SP2 is the culprit, I haven’t used the HTML designer since I installed SP2 last week. Have you guys installed SP2 at all? I used the big 266mb SP installer to update.
