Hi there – has anyone been able to successfully install the above WAS plugin in Myeclipse.
Is it possibe to install this in Myeclipse Version: 10.0 Blue (bling) as the WAS plugin nstallation notes says eclipse 3.6 only but it seems that Myeclipse Version: 10.0 Blue (bling) uses eclipse 3.7.

I get a dependency error, pls see attached.

    any workaround this ?

    Thanks in advance

    kantapatel,

Please answer below queries to help me investigate further –
    1. Open MyEclipse Bling IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and copy and paste the same here
    2. How did you add the plugin? Please provide link to download the plugin or share the weblink which gives information about the update site

Yes, MyEclipse bling version 10 is based on Eclipse 3.7. If you add plugin which is compatible with Eclipse 3.6, it will result in dependency issue. You need to find a compatible plugin for Eclipse 3.7
What are the features from WAS v8.0 developer tools which you are trying to add to Bling?

See URL for plugin info :http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/ibm-websphere-application-server-v80-developer-tools-eclipse-36-only

    plugin update site:http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/websphere/wasdev/V8.0.4

I tried to install via Help>Myeclipse Configuration Centre>software>add Site

I bascially need to develop Jyhton Scripts that will heavily use WASAdmin Scripting Objects – so syntax highlighting, code completion are many of the features I am after.

    Look foreward to your response.

    thanks.

    kantapatel,

My apologies for the late reply. Thank you for installation details and update site particulars.

Refer – http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/ibm-websphere-application-server-v80-developer-tools-eclipse-36-only . The update site listed is the same as given by you – http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/websphere/wasdev/V8.0.4
It also lists that the compatible Eclipse version as 3.6.2

Based on – http://marketplace.eclipse.org/node/131344 – Eclipse supported versions listed are 3.6.2, 3.7.1. This lists the update site as –
    http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/websphere/wasdev/V8.5/

    I did the following –
    1. Added http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/websphere/wasdev/V8.5/ update site to Bling 10
    2. This listed WebSphere Application Server v8.5 Developer Tools under Personal Sites.
    3. Expand the same to child nodes.
    4. Right click on WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Beta Tools > [add to Profile]
    5. Similarly right click on WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Beta Liberty Profile Tools > [add to Profile]
    6. Click on [Apply 2 changes] button and follow the wizard
When prompted choose to restart the IDE

Please note that MyEclipse Bling v 10 is based on Eclipse 3.7.

Let me know how this works for you.

    kantapatel,

My apologies for the late reply. Refer the installation section of the help -http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/radhelp/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.rad.install.doc/topics/t_install_wdt_eclipse.html – alter the -vm parameter in the myeclipse-blue.ini file to work with WAS Tools features for version 8.0 (configuration settings file). Please refer https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-where-are-the-myeclipse-files-and-folders/ for location of files and folders.

I have not worked on WAS v8.5 Beta tools. This is a third party plugin and we do not provide intrinsic support for the same. You may need to enhance the base WTP tools in the Eclipse JEE Distribution. To do the same, open MyEclipse Bling. From menu options click on Window > Preferences > General > Capabilities. Select MyEclipse Standard Tools. Click on [Advanced…] . Expand MyEclipse Standard Tools. Select “WTP Extras”. Click on [OK], [Apply] and [OK].

I would recommend you refer https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/blogs/wasdev/entry/download?lang=en . The help link provided here points to IBM WebSphere Application Server Develper Tools for Eclipse, Version 8.0.4( http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/radhelp/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.rad.install.doc/topics/wdt_overview.html ). I am afraid, you need to contact the WAS support for 8.5 tools beta help.
