    Does the software stop working?
    Or behave differently?
Or just bug me continuously to upgrade?

The reason I ask is this. For instance, most virus software subscriptions
just stop sending you automatic updates once the subscription expires,
but the virus protection continues to work for all the viruses already
recognized. There is no loss of existing capability, only l no new capability
    added.

So I’m curious what happens when the MyEclipseIDE subscription expires.

    Thanks

It will start to remind you a month away from the expiration date.

Yes the MyEclipse functionality is disabled once your subscription expires. This is one of the pro/cons of a subscription model. Because the subscription is not tied to a version, like purchasing an IntelliJ version, MyEclipse will stop functioning. But one of the pros of this is that you get free upgrades all year round even if it is a major new release.

Take a look at the roadmap. If you buy a subscription today you will get version 4.1 and 5.0 and whatever other new releases for the next year all for free, and believe me those releases will be packed with features.
