Looking for a recommendation on installing plugins. It looks like you can do it one of 3 ways:
1- via update sites.
2- via pulse
3- via dropins folder

What is the recommended way and why?

You can use either of the above mentioned options.
1. If you have update site. You can add plugin via update sites
2. You can also add plugins via pulse. Pulse will automatically fetch all the eclipse plugins and resolve any dependency.
3. If you have plugins in the form of .zip or any archive software which resolves to plugin and or feature then you can install via dropins folder option
The important thing to note is that the plugin should be compatible to the base eclipse.
