After setting up a new Eclipse 3.0.1 in conjunction with MyEclipse Build id 200409171200-3.8.2, it is no more possible for me to disable the XML-validation. (I need that urgently). Please help.

Could you post back and let us know your system profile (click the insert button on the submit page). Also, could you check the eclipse .log file in the .metadata directory of your workspace for any errors. If there are errors could you post them here?

What do you mean by validation is missing? Does the page not show up or other?

I believe I am seeing this same issue: the validation option does not appear under Window-Preferences-My Eclipse-Files and Editors (or anywhere else, a search for Validation does not find any tabs within Preferences). The workspace log file says:
    !ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 4 2011-03-31 08:48:23.530
!MESSAGE Invalid preference page path: Validation
(among other such pages, also invalid).
I tried to start MyEclipse with the -clean option, but it did not help…
    This is running MyEclipse 8.5…

    Any suggestions?

    Moises,

Sorry that you ran into this issue.

    1) How did you install MyEclipse ? Is it through Pulse/All-In-One installer/ Archived Update Site ?
    2) Did you install any third party plugins which might have caused this issue?

    3) I recommend a quick fix using Pulse. Here are the steps :

    a. Open Pulse (Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer or download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com)
    b. Login to pulse
    c. Select “Eclipse 3.5 – galileo” or relevant realm from top left hand corner dropdown
    d. Select your MyEclipse 8.5 profile from “My Profiles”
    e. Right click on the same and click on [Re-install and run]
    f. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.

    4) Switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persists. If yes then paste the complete error logged in the .log file which is located at <workspace dir>/.metadata/.log

    5) Also attach a screenshot of the Window > Preferences > MyEclipse.

Let me know how this works for you.
