XForms is gaining momentum. Firefox 1.1 will support it natively. IBM has an Xforms editor sample (on alphaworks). There is Deng, Forms player and the Novell Xforms plug-in. There is also a server side implementation: http://forge.objectweb.org/projects/ops.
This project has a basic Eclipse Plug-in for the XML definition files (the XML Pipeline language used has been submitted to W3C) it uses. It’s an cool alternative to Java only web applications (Xforms instead of JSP/JSF). Propping up the base editor with the visual tools like the struts editor in myEclipse would make xforms really accessible to a lot of developers.
Check it out and remark your verdict.

Guys we will look into this but historically do not support things that are being used by 1% of our user base, it is not cost effective for us. If XForms does take off and seems to be “the next big thing” then it will become a much higher priority for us.

Well, the OPS team would be willing to contribute, so it could be a cheap victory=?

That is always an option, we have had quite a few new features that are part of MyEclipse be financed by large purchases of subscriptions from bigger companies that needed the functionality. If your company was willing to do this you can drop an email to subscriptions@genuitec.com to start a dialog discussing this possibility, they can give you a good idea of costs and timelines and such if this is an avenue you would like to go.

the thing about xForms is, although I persoanly can live with manually creating them, I just felt it could be something ME team to keep in mind for the future. When xForms become the standard, you could hve a head start on it 😉

Well, it has been 5 years, so I presume there was not much momentum possibly until recently. I am in a project that is planning to use the XRX guidelines to create applications.
I am a n00b with respect this, but since XRX stands for XFroms/REST/XQuery, has any discussion being started about this?

    Thanks.
