Sorry for the delay in responding to this post. I was able to reproduce this issue when I changed the line width but the formatting works fine with the default line width.
Can you please let me know why you need to change the line width to 140 so that I can add a note along with the PR that I will be filing for the dev team.Dear Nipun,
Don’t worry, I am not in an hurry, it’s just nice not to be forgotten.
Anyway: line width 80 is veryyyy old fashing, and I can’t believe then more then 20% of the current java developers exactly still use that. (it comes from the the time when people, like me, were still developing with vi, can hardly believe I ever did that 🙁 ). On a 17″ monitor with a resolution of > 1600, a line widh of > 100 is very common nowadays.
Our team uses a line width of 140-150 for xml and java files which works very nice as otherwise a method call is shared over about 2-3 lines, which makes it very unclear.Maybe nice to do a poll and found out what most people use as line width.
But is this exactly a bug, or …. ??
