ethutchMemberI’ve been ignoring this since the update came out because I figured you would get it sorted out. But the lack of posts or fix makes me assume this is unique to me and Pulse has gored itself again, which seems to be about all it’s good for but that’s a different story.
I’m not really sure what would be the most helpful diag to post. Below is the output from the Pulse Explorer window. I’ll also attach the logs/profile-mb log which really seems to be talking about a completely different issue than the one in pulse explorer, but I really don’t know the intimate internals of the update process. As background everything was working fine showing no conflicts or anything until this 10.1 update.
Any help sorting out Pulse’s latest mischief greatly appreciated.

support-joyMemberethutch,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Could you provide below information –
1. What is the update you are trying to apply?
2. Could you attach your installation details. Open MyEclipse for Spring IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details > [Copy to Clipboard] and paste the same here
3. Please attach a screenshot of MyEclipse Configuration Center > Software tab

support-joyMemberethutch,
Thank you for the installation details and screenshot. I have escalated your issue to dev team member, they would get back to you on this.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
ethutchMemberAlso when I start MyEclipse, before I do anything at all I get a dialog box “Multiple problems have occruured”. It has 2 lines in a multi-line text box. Both are “Update Installed JREs”. The details for both are:
An internal error occurred during: “Update Installed JREs”.
java.lang.NullPointerExceptionPossibly related to it’s overall lack of health and is new since I tried to apply the 10.1 update. Happily the product still works, otherwise I’d be reinstalling! Hopefully the level 2 or whatever you call them will get back to me soon.
Brian FernandesModeratorethutch,
We have seen this issue in rare cases where there is some problem in the configuration. It isn’t a problem with Pulse per se, but some snafu in the p2/configuration area that makes the upgrade impossible / difficult; unfortunately we haven’t been able to figure out what would cause the configuration to get into this state.
The simplest solution I would say is to simply get our online or offline installers for ME4S 10.1 and run the installer, it will detect your profile and ask if you want to install another copy or upgrade. To be safe, you could install another copy and start using that instead, pointed at your current workspace. The online installer will only download the difference between 10.0 and 10.1, about 200 to 300 MB as opposed to the offline installer which is about a gigabyte in size.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused, hope this helps.
ethutchMemberDoes that mean I will have to re-add all my plugins? As an aside, I did set up the “team of one thing”, but cannot for the life of me find a way to actually use it on my other PC. Perhaps that would be a solution? Can you provide any instructions on that?
ethutchMemberapparently not 🙁
Brian FernandesModeratorethutch,
Sorry – I had discussed this post with my team but it appears that we did not get around to updating this thread.
The new profile option does mean that you will have to start from scratch as you have already experienced.
There are a few additional options within the installer that might help.
1) You could choose to upgrade your exiting profile; though I cannot say if that upgrade will fail with the same issue you noticed when you tried to update from within MyEclipse.2) You could choose the Repair option in the installer against your profile – this would give you two further options – to either Repair your profile (which would keep your added bits intact) or Reset your profile – which would reset it to the configuration shipped with the installer, without your modifications, of course.
3) If you install Pulse Explorer on the same machine, you will be able to hook that up to your existing MyEclipse installation after registering with Pulse with a username and password. If you then use this same account with Pulse Explorer running on another machine, you would be able to provision an identical profile on that machine too.
You do not need to enable “Team of One” for this, that opens up further profile customization options, allowing you to get the profile ready for sharing with others – it is not required when you use the same profile on another machine.
