I have a remote student trying to install the 4.1GA on eclipse 3.1.2 under Win2K. The installer pops up a dialog that looks like an “extracting files” progress meter of some kind, but it closes so fast I can’t read any of it. I can’t find any log files in the folder where the installer(s) are located. She’s had the same results with copies of the installer from a CD, and copies downloaded today from the site.
Trying to diagnose this via RDP was impossible – too slow – so I’m trying to get suggestions as to where to look first for problems. It’s already 4:00 over there and she’s lost two days of lab time already, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

JeffThe easiest thing to do is use the manual installation for 4.1GA. On the CD there is likely a manual installation if not you can download the manual install version from the download page right below the Windows installer.
Once you download the manual install, when you unzip it, there is a HTML file that guides you through the manual installation.
