Well my 7.1 upgrade kept failing but that is another story. I seem to have had a partial update. It’s telling me I am at 7.1 but I had lots of errors about failures in Icefaces and struts stuff after the last attempt !

Now, I had a lot of problems at the time of the 7.0 upgrade because I was behind an NTLM proxy. Since that time, I never asked pulse / myeclipse to save my proxy authentication credentials because I simply didn’t trust it. Yesterday, I must have been a little overly optimistic because I asked for my credentials to be saved. Today, whenever I try to run an update, I get an error. It says “An unexpected error occurred validating the selected profile. Reason : This profile can not be resolved because the required software could not be located.” Maybe it is because of the failed 7.1 upgrade but I suspect the authentication credential thing – because I have updated since the 7.1 upgrade.

Can anyone tell me how to clear this saved information ? Hopefully this will be in a normal preference but a config file will do.

I can’t help but notice just how busy this forum is. Is it because we all have rubbish network connections, strange proxy set-ups or could it be that recent updates to MyEclipse in the area of software update have been poorly managed and delivered ?

    Chris,

Sorry for the inconvinience. For a better understanding of your current problem, I need to know few things –
    1. Your installation details. Can you copy and paste your installation details here? you can get it from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail.
    2. Log file errors. Please attach your log files, you should find them under your MyEclipse installation directory/.metadata/.log file.
    3. How did you install MyEclipse 7.0/7.1? There are various ways a user can install MyEclipse – downloading the all-in-one installer, using pulse explorer, through Eclipse?
    4. What is the version of Pulse you are using? How did you configure your proxy authentication details?

I seem to have had a lot of problems ever since Pulse has been around. If I can’t quickly find a good answer, I’m going to try to figure out how to completely clear out my machine of MyEclipse and start from scratch. Maybe I’ll end up trying to go with a 6 version.

At first, I kept getting these errors about an invalid state

I would get these every time I tried to start MyEclipse for the second time. (So I would leave my machine running, but sometimes they shut down the power at night.) Reinstalling MyEclipse would get me running again.

Now I can’t even download and reinstall, because I get the following. Maybe it has to do with me trying to install the “subversive” pulse update. I wanted it, since they use svn here, but I can live without it.

I have my employer breathing down my neck, wondering why I use such troublesome tools compared to the other developers. I could really use some help. I’m running XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 3 on a dual-core 2GB Dell desktop.

Oh, yes, I used the All-In-One installer … over and over again. I am on a LAN but not behind a proxy or using a proxy server. I downloaded everything again yesterday so that should answer the remaining version questions. Of course, since I’m not running, it is hard to see version numbers.

    Bruce,

While downloading all-in-one installer, have you verified the file size of the installer and md5sum? Can you check if you have pulse explorer under Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer. If yes, we can quickly fix this issue. Open pulse explorer. Select My Profiles. Select MyEclipse. Right Click on MyEclipse and click on [Install and Run]/[Re-install and Run]. If you don’t have pulse explorer you can download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com. In case you don’t want to use pulse, can you download MyEclipse using the 5th option of Manual Install. This is a zip version. Please ensure the file size is same and verify md5sum number. All you need to do is unzip to the relevant installation location. You should be all set.
In case if none of the above options work, can you give me details of your system configuration e.g. what is the OS? is it 32 bit or 64 bit?
