DanielParticipantI’m running Angular IDE on High Sierra.
It seems day (oddly it seems time dependent, early evening i don’t see this behavior, but later in the night it does), while typing or selecting text in the IDE, I get a Angular IDE crash. Start it back up, try to make the same edit, get the same crash. This issue comes and goes, I’ve had to get into the habit of saving edits after every freaking line I type because I never know when your application is going to bomb and lose even a few lines of work, or as it has done in the past, lose an entire file at a time.
I’ve been struggling with a whole bunch of issues since upgrading to High Sierra. I’ve about had it with Angular IDE… at this rate I have no incentive to renew my license when it comes up.
Brian FernandesModeratorDaniel,
Of course this is unacceptable behavior – I’d never be able to code with the fear that my next keystroke could result in the entire IDE crashing.
We did some research and this appears to be an issue with Eclipse Neon and below (on which Angular IDE is based) that is specific to High Sierra, but does not occur on all systems either. We’re investigating this further to figure out what specifically causes the issue and which workarounds are possible right now.
I’m assuming you’re using Angular IDE standalone and have not installed it into an Eclipse instance from the marketplace? If you do have the latter configuration, one option would be to simply move to an Eclipse Oxygen base and install Angular IDE into that instead. I realize this isn’t a trivial task, but it’s the only solution that we’re immediately aware of. As I said earlier, we’re continuing to investigate at high priority and will let you know when we have a better solution.
DanielParticipantThank you for looking into this. I am using AngularIDE downloaded from Genuitec directly, I’m assuming that is the standalone version.
