Hello,
could someone please enlighten me about how to use the archived update site? I downloaded it, and then went to “Find and install”->”Search for new features to install” and added the archive as a new site (contrary to what it says in the download section, I had to add the packed archive).
What is unclear to me is whether I should simply proceed from here with the “New installation”, or go back to the “Search for updates”, because, after all, I want to perform an update, not a new installation.

Keep going forward through the wizard as a “new” feature. After you accept the terms of the license agreement, the next panel will show you where the installation is going to go. Eclipse will pick the location of your existing 3.8.3 installation by default. If it doesn’t, you can set it so that it does. Please be sure that it points to the ME installation, and not to the Eclipse installation itself. After that just hit next and it should update just fine.
