Hi All;

I am a person who manages the eclipse installation for our firm. I setup myeclipse in such a way such that people can conditionally use it if they develop web applications. This means they can install it by going to “Manage Configuration” and adding an install site. One thing that I noticed is that everytime this is done, a user has to enter the subscription code. I would prefer not to make the subscription code public. Is there a place I can put it in the MyEclipse installation, so when a user installs MyEclipse, the subscription code is automatically entered?

I am looking into this for you, the subscription information is stored in a dot file in the user’s home dir, but unless you were to put license files on everyone’s machine that likely wouldn’t help.

Putting a dot file in the myeclipse installation directory would be adequate. Can I put a dot file in the myeclipse installation directory? Putting a file in a users home directory is not really what I want because then I would have to give the file to each user that requests it. I would prefer it to be seamless. If a user wants myeclipse, they get it with minimum of hassle.

Last week I drafted a document that describes how the MyEclipse license manager works and a recommended installation configuration for enterprise settings.
