Is there a howto or a section of the docs that I’ve missed which clearly spells out how to bundle a server along with an installer? We need to bundle Liberty Profile along with configurations and DB drivers, if there’s a simple set of instructions you could share that would be very much appreciated!

Hi Stu,

Nobody on the SDC team has ever personally installed the Liberty Profile, but there are individuals on the MyEclipse team who have. I’ve asked them to provide their insight, but I expect I won’t hear anything today.

In the generic sense, when you want to ship additional binaries alongside your package the standard way to do it is to import them as Third-Party libraries. When you start the Third-Party Library import wizard, the first question you’re asked is which kind of library do you want to import. For the Liberty Profile, you’ll want to import it using “Package binary contents for delivery”.

Hi Stu,

I’ve heard back from our local LibertyProfile expert and it sounds like the interesting part of shipping the LibertyProfile alongside an Eclipse package will be getting the environment variables set up correctly to point to the dropped down Java and LibertyProfile contents. You can use our dynamic variable expansion extension for binaries installed as Third-Party libraries to aid in the setup of preferences within Eclipse to help you use the LibertyProfile from within your Eclipse package.

Let us know if you have further questions regarding this. Never having done it ourselves, we’re can’t claim to be gurus regarding the LibertyProfile, but we’d be happy to come to a mutual understanding of the process with you.
