I’m just getting familiar with MyEclipse Reports. I understand the basics of creating a data set from a query, but I’d like to know if there is a way to create a data set from a POJO/bean. It would be nice to be able to create a bean data set and bind to the bean properties. Is that possible?

Thanks rmcvay. I think you’re correct. I have not tried it yet, but I can see now there is a New Data Source>>Scripted Data Source option available. I did some more digging on the BIRT site and found this example:

    http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/examples/scripting/scripteddatasource/

The example demonstrates how to read data from a Java class.

I’m still evaluating MyEclipse reports/BIRT, and this seems to be a very powerful feature. If I can figure out how to make it access a JNDI connection pool, I’ll be sold. 🙂

Right now they’re way behind on their BIRT support, which is a serious issue with us. We’d like to replace RAD with Blue but adding a separate BIRT IDE makes that far less attractive.
