crispyozMemberI have a 3rd party plugin (AribaWeb plugin) and can install this plugin in standard Eclipse by just dropping it in the plugins directory. In MyEclipse 8.5 (and 8.0 previously) dropping the plugin in the dropins directory (with my other plugs) doesn’t find it, neither does dropping it in the plugins directory. What else can I do to get MyEclipse to find it? I tried starting with -reset but no difference 🙁
Thanks
Chris
support-joyMemberChris,
Let me clarify that MyEclipse doesn’t provide any intrinsic support for AribaWeb . Having said that there are users who have successfully installed third party plugins to their ME profile.
Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
2. How did you install ME? Meaning all-in-one installer / pulse / archived update site on top of eclipse classic?
3. Can you share the weblink of AribaWeb Plugin?
4. Have you verified that AribaWeb Plugin is compatible to Eclipse 3.5.2?
You mention that you have dropped the plugin to ME 8.5 dropins folder. Can you verify if you have done the following? Copied the plugin to [your myeclipse installation dir]/dropins/plugins folder and features to [your myeclipse installation dir]/dropins/featrues folder and restart your IDE? My apologies if you have already done the following.

3) http://www.aribaweb.org, then you download the 5.0 GA release and unzip it, it’s in the IDE subdirectory
4) It works on my standard 3.5.x Eclipse install on my other machine.
5) It only has the single plugin to install, no details about installing any featuresThanks
Chris
support-joyMemberChris,
Thank you for the details. I have downloaded AribaWeb and on unzipping I don’t see any plugins/features. How did you install the same on Eclipse 3.5.x?
crispyozMemberHi Joy,
The zip file is named aribaweb-5.0GA, when you unzip it the plugins are in aribaweb-5.0GA\ide and named ariba.ideplugin.eclipse.5.0rc1
Chris
support-joyMemberChris,
Thank you for pointing to the plugins. I am afraid this is not the valid plugin. You need eclipse plugin for AribaWeb. I have validated this doesn’t work for Eclipse 3.5.2 as well.
crispyozMemberHmm interesting it worked in mine.
support-joyMemberChris,
I have verified again, it shows as not a valid plugin under Eclipse 3.5.2. I have used the classic distribution. As mentioned above, please ensure that it is a valid eclipse plug-in.
