I downloaded the 5.0 release for Mac OSX, but when it downloaded, clicking on the icon does nothing. After a few seconds, the bouncing icon in the task bar disappears. Next I downloaded the self installer, but contraty to the instructions on your download page, there are NO install instructions anywhere to be found. Does this release even work on Mac?

After poking around the download page, I saw the link to the forum page where the download link exists for the manual install process. I’ll try this later on today, so never mind my previous question. I guess I got too distracted by the fact that the auto install feature doesn’t seem to work.

What versio of Mac OS X do you have? We tested the automated installer on our Mac test machine which is running 10.4 with the latest java updates.

I have 10.4 myself and I’m getting the same thing running the Mac installer .app. It fires up then disappears doing nothing that I can see. I suppose the manual installer is the only recourse. (sigh)

When I run the MyEclipse 5.0.1 installer for Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) with Java 5, I can’t seem to select the Eclipse SDK 3.2 directory. It contains an “eclipse” subdirectory, which has eclipse, but I don’t see any .eclipseproduct (that seems to be required), although perhaps it might be hidden. I am unable to get past the “Choose Eclipse Folder” step to install MyEclipse. I downloaded a fresh new Eclipse SDK 3.2 followed by the MyEclipse 5.0.1, and launched the Mac installer. What am I missing? Do I need to do a manual install? How can I complete my installation?

I tried using the Manual Install on Mac OS X 10.4 since the Mac Installer did not work (stuck at choosing Eclipse folder). It worked! Following the ReadMe document, this just involved copying the downloaded MyEclipse directory, and adding an extension location in the Eclipse 3.2 using Software Update – Manage Configuration. Using that download I was able to get MyEclipse 5.0.1 running on my Mac, although it would be better to get the Mac Installer working properly.

FYI- don’t unzip with command line, when you try to use the installer, it bounces on the dock for a second and just disappears. Unzipping with a utility through the finder did the trick for me.
