gregoire.seguinMemberI have installed the Tasktop plugin on my MyEclipse 7.0.
I have 2 major problems.
1. The reports side requires Birt, not sure I can get it installed, wouldn’t know how.
2. When I install a tasktop partner connector for collabnet, my eclipse will no longer re-start.I’m not frozen and cannot continue with this workstation.
Even “uninstall” and “re-install” of MyEclipse doesn’t fix.The error I get is “The Myeclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library.
Steps:
1. installed MyEclipse. load, restart.
2. installed Tasktop. Restart
3. used the one click install to add the collabnet update. Say yes to restart and MyEclipse doesn’t restart.I googled a bit and found info about mac OSX problems, I use Windows XP, so that’s not it.
MyEclipse verion is 7.0-20081201
Tasktop versioni 1.3.0.v20081106-1400My MyEclipse.ini has the following content:
-clean
-configuration
C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.0\configuration
-framework
Common\plugins\org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.2.R34x_v20080826-1230.jarI have posted on the tasktop website as well, but as this problem seems to happen before MyEclipse starts, it may be a difference between Eclipse and MyEclipse which is causing this problem. . Please help me.

Loyal WaterMemberTasktop is not officially certified to run with MyEclipse. I’m not sure if these two are compatible with each other.
You cannot setup BIRT with MyEclipse. MyEclipse Reports is the reporting tool that is available with MyEclipse and it this is built on top of BIRT.
gregoire.seguinMemberRight, now how do I get running again?
Could you at least help me out enough to tell me what the default myeclipse.ini should look like and if there are log files I should be looking at to solve my problem or is this a “Your support agreement stops if you install plugins into myeclipse type situation”? I must say I can currently NOT start MyEclipse and the thought of re-formatting my machine to get it going again sorta sucks.
Tried the “standard” myeclipse supported way of using the provided unistaller and then re-install with no success.
Please help.
gregoire.seguinMemberTried to locate the list of certified to run with MyEclipse list of plugins to see if there’s one there that would enable us to do the same thing, and couldn’t find the list.
Could you provide me with a link to that list?
gregoire.seguinMemberI’ve managed to uninstall it, then delete all folders and try agin… the uninstall feature doesn’t seem to work for MyEclipse. Or at least it doesn’t uninstall changes made and delete the directories it creates.
I would still like the list of certified plugins to see what I can install without causing my IDE to require a re-install.
Riyad KallaMemberGregoire,
I’m sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Nipun had actually asked me to look into this and I didn’t get around to it until just now. I’m glad to hear that you got the reinstall cleaned up and working (sorry to hear the uninstaller didn’t do it’s job).
Also from your steps above it sounds like the Collabnet client is what killed MyEclipse and not Tasktop, it seems everything worked fine up until that point, is that correct? I haven’t tried this combination of plugins with MyEclipse before so it’s hard to say what is wrong.
As far as an official list, there is nothing from our upper management here that we could provide along those lines (no one has compiled such an official list or would work on maintaining it between releases) — sorry about that.
kmagnantMemberI did a fresh install (first time) of MyEclipse 7.0. Rebooted my machine, started MyEclipse, declined the three updates, built everything from my 6.0 workspace, ran stuff and all was well.
I then shut down MyEclipse, restarted it, accepted the updates, let MyEclipse close itself after the update completed, and viola; upon restarting I now get “The MyEclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library” error. Kinda frustrating, any help is appreciated.
I am running Windows XP Professional with all the latest updates.
Riyad KallaMemberkmagnant,
Can you drill down to the directory that MyEclipse is installed to (usually under the /Genuitec subdir somewhere) and paste the contents of your myeclipse.ini file here, also if you can dig into your workspace, into the .metadata directory and open the .log file then grab the last bits of the log from the failed launch and paste them here, maybe something helpful to go on.
